The Registered Practical Nurse (RPN) (Part time) reports to the Health and Wellness Manager and is responsible for the day-to-day safety and provision of personal care and services for seniors. By promoting the values, goals, and philosophy of the Home, the RPN effortlessly/consistently engages in meaningful interactions with residents, families, and team members.

There are two available shifts for our RPN Part time role:

Week 1: Saturdays, Sundays and Fridays 6:00 AM - 2:00 PM AND Week 2: Tuesdays 6:00 AM - 2:00 PM OR

Week 1: Tuesdays 2:00 PM - 10:00 PM AND Week 2: Saturdays, Sundays, Fridays 2:00 PM - 10:00 PM

Responsibilities:

-Provides direction and supervision to PSWs/team members,
-Responsible for ongoing assessment of resident care needs, monitoring and reporting changes,
-Participates in the development and modification of resident's plan of care. Assists in implementing/evaluating the effectiveness of the plans,
-Supports/participates in the orientation of new Associates,
-Accountable for the medication delivery system for the Residents,
-Ensures medications are ordered, received, and administered as prescribed,
-Liaisons with Residents, families, and outside agencies as required,
-Respects the Residents' Bill of Rights,
-Liaisons with the Resident's physician as necessary,
-Promotes a safe, healthy workplace,
-Completes weights and blood pressure checks as required,
-Provides ongoing education to Associates to meet legislative requirements and learning needs of Associates,
-Aware of role and responsibilities under the Occupational Health & Safety Act,
-Inspires others to be motivated and work with passion and empowers team members,
-Completes nursing documentation,
-Any and all other tasks as assigned.

Qualifications:

-Current Certificate of Competence with the College of Nurses of Ontario as a Registered Practical Nurse or a Registered Practical Nurse registered with a regulatory -authority in a Canadian jurisdiction other than Ontario and holds in that jurisdiction the equivalent of a certificate of registration authorizing independent practice in Ontario as of right exemption Bill 60,
-Experience in Retirement or long-term care preferred,
-A high degree of tolerance and patience,
-Well-developed written and oral communication skills,
-Supervisory capability and experience,
-Ability to walk, stand, carry equipment, and ability to lift and transfer Residents,
-Basic CPR and First aid preferred,
-Ability to work with and relate to interdisciplinary team members,
-Ability to work from the heart and make others smile,
-Must have a clear vulnerable sector screen, no older than 6 months, TB test results less than 6 months old, must be able to provide three supervisory reference
