Job Summary:The Crate Builder is responsible for building custom and standard wooden crates and packaging solutions for the safe transport of goods. This position requires the ability to read packing specifications and use hand and power tools to construct sturdy and secure crates.
Key Responsibilities:
- Measure, cut, and assemble wood materials to build shipping crates and containers.
- Read and interpret packing orders, blueprints, or customer specifications.
- Use hand tools, power tools, saws, and nail guns to construct crates.
- Ensure crates meet safety and quality standards for shipping.
- Apply appropriate packing materials (foam, braces, padding) to protect contents.
- Label and document crates according to shipping requirements.
- Maintain a clean and organized workspace.
- Follow all safety procedures and company policies.
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Experience in carpentry, woodworking, or crate building is a plus.
- Ability to use measuring tools and power tools safely and accurately.
- Strong attention to detail and quality.
- Ability to lift heavy materials (up to 50 lbs or more).
- Basic math and reading skills.
- Forklift experience may be required in some roles.
Work Environment:
- Typically works in a warehouse or manufacturing facility.
- May be exposed to noise, dust, and heavy equipment.
