About the Role:

As a Family Support Worker, you will support parents and caregivers of children aged 0-6 through in-home, virtual, and community-based visits. You'll help families build resilience, strengthen parenting skills, and connect with vital resources to support child and youth development.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide supportive counselling, referrals, and resources to caregivers
  • Conduct intakes, assessments, and case management in alignment with funder mandates
  • Plan and deliver workshops and services that promote family well-being
  • Collaborate with community partners and service providers
  • Maintain accurate data and documentation in program databases
  • Ensure compliance with YMCA policies, health and safety standards, and child protection protocols

Qualifications:

  • Degree in Human Services or equivalent experience
  • Minimum 2 years working with families facing multiple risk factors
  • Registration with a professional organization (as required by law)
  • Valid driver's license, access to a reliable vehicle, and proof of insurance
  • Certifications: Standard First Aid/CPR-C, Police Intervention Check (Vulnerable Sector), WHMIS; Non-Violent Crisis Intervention and Suicide Intervention (asset)
  • Strong knowledge of social determinants of health, trauma-informed care, and culturally sensitive practices
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Outlook
