Volunteers report to the Recreation Manager and are expected to demonstrate commitment to resident well-being while focusing on emotion based person centered care by implementing high-quality activities in accordance with the organization's vision and mission while maintaining the Tuckshop.

Responsibilities:

  • Accurately handle cash transactions and ensure proper accounting

  • Stock shelves and maintain an organized, clean store environment

  • Interact with residents in a professional and friendly manner, following store guidelines and protocols

  • Assist in managing the tuckshop

  • Collaborate with a team, as well as work efficiently on your own

Qualifications:

The qualifications needed to join our family are as follows:

  • Able to count and handle cash accurately
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail

  • Friendly, patient, and approachable demeanor with great communication skills

  • Ability to problem-solve and adapt to different situations

  • Leadership qualities and the ability to manage the store when needed

  • Reliability and a commitment to a long-term volunteer role

  • Quick learner with a positive attitude and a team-oriented mindset

  • Must enjoy working with the elderly in a setting that promotes optimum independence, dignity and respect
  • Must have high energy and a sense of fun
  • Ability to lift up to 15 lbs
  • Ability to have meaningful engagements with others
  • Clear vulnerable sector screening (w/ in last 6 months), recent TB test results (w/ in last 6 months) or Chest X-Ray (w/ in last 1 yr), and two supervisory references required
