As the evening Lead in our Transitional Housing program, you will play a critical role in supporting women navigating complex trauma, homelessness, poverty, addictions and violence. You are a steady presence who guides the evening team with empathy, clarity and strength. With a trauma-informed lens and unwavering professionalism, you foster a safe, collaborative and respectful environment for both our team members and our participants. You model strong boundaries, high standards of care, and a coaching approach that brings out the best in others, ensuring every woman we serve experiences dignity, compassion and support.

This position is based on-site at the Transitional Housing program and primarily covers evening shifts Monday through Friday, with one weekend evening per month. Flexibility is required to respond to emergent situations or staffing needs, which may occasionally include late-night or early morning hours. The role involves moderate physical activity such as walking, standing, and occasional lifting, and includes exposure to emotionally charged situations requiring rapid decision-making in unpredictable environments.

WHAT YOU'LL DO:

  • Provide on-site oversight and guidance to the teams working evening and overnight shifts.
  • Lead daily shift changes and debriefings to ensure continuity of care and clear communication.
  • Delegate tasks and responsibilities based on team strengths, client needs and emergent priorities.
  • Provide real-time coaching and emotional support to staff navigating complex client interactions.
  • Lead or support crisis interventions and critical incidents, ensuring safety and dignity for all involved per organizational policy and procedures.
  • Ensures shifts are fully staffed, calling in relief staff or security when necessary.
  • Support onboarding, training, and development of new and relief staff, reinforcing program expectations and trauma-informed principles.
  • Ensure availability of supplies, program materials, and emergency resources.
  • Coordinate with external services (i.e., crisis teams, emergency personnel, security) when required.
  • Model empathetic, non-judgmental, and culturally responsive engagement with clients.
  • Assist clients in accessing evening services, resources, and support as needed.
  • Facilitate referrals to internal or external supports when appropriate.
  • Lead or support de-escalation efforts using trauma-informed techniques and ensure safety planning and recovery strategies are implemented when needed.
  • Address interpersonal conflicts between clients with fairness and restorative approaches.

WHAT YOU'LL BRING:

  • Post-secondary education in Social Work, Human Services, or a related field.
  • 5+ years in gender-based violence, housing, or related sector, including 2+ years in a leadership role.
  • Equivalent combination of education and lived/professional experience will be considered.
  • Training in trauma-informed care, addictions, and crisis intervention preferred.
  • Experience supervising staff in a 24/7 environment and working with women and children impacted by domestic violence, housing instability and systemic barriers is an asset.
  • Familiarity with systems such as housing, child intervention, mental health and income support.
  • Skilled in crisis management, problem solving and conflict resolution.
  • Deep understanding of trauma-informed, recovery-oriented, and client-centered practice.
  • Demonstrated commitment to equity, anti-oppression and cultural safety.
  • Leads with empathy, clarity, professionalism, and accountability.
  • Strong organizational, documentation and communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, data systems and reporting tools.
