We're Hiring!

We are now accepting applications for Community Support Worker based out of the Kelowna Office.

The successful applicants will provide outreach and community support to adults with diversabilities, including those with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) or Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD).

These positions involve working independently in the individuals or familys home, and in the community.

Hours / Schedule:

This is a permanent Full-Time position that can average 40 hours per week.

Applicants should be prepared to work flexible hours, which are mostly days, with some evenings and on rare occasions, weekends.

If you enjoy working independently, having input in determining your own schedule and have a passion to help others, this is an ideal position for you.

Responsibilities:

Community Support Workers must be able to apply a range of treatment modalities, which will vary based on the specific needs, and level / intensity of the service required.

The specific responsibilities of the position include:

  • Providing individualized behaviour intervention, consultation, education, recreation, counseling, and support services for referred adults.
  • Working with family members or caregivers, to strengthen the family unit and provide support.
  • Providing individual and group-based services to assist clients to develop social skills, communication skills, life skills, and peer relationships.

Preferred Education and Experience:

  • Diploma or certificate in Behaviour Intervention, or relevant Social Services or Human Services disciplines
  • Experience supporting individuals with complex developmental behavioural conditions, including ASD, and FASD.

To be successful in your role, youll also need:

  • Demonstrate excellent interpersonal and verbal / written communication skills.
  • Be detail-oriented, organized, and efficient.
  • Be skilled at managing multiple concurrent projects, assignments and tasks requested from multiple sources.
  • Be capable of working independently, and frequently under pressure.

Other Requirements

Given the nature of our work, please note that all shortlisted candidates:

  • Need a valid BC Driver's License, regional insurance, and a reliable personal vehicle.
  • Must undergo a screening process, including a criminal record search.

Wage / Benefits:

$25.90 - $30.00 per hour based on relevant experience and education.

Upon successful completion of a probationary period, full-time employees (minimum 20-hrs per week) are eligible for a full benefit package (including dental plan, vision coverage, life insurance, extended medical coverage, long-term disability plan, and RRSP or TFSA contributions)

New full-time employees are eligible for 3-weeks paid vacation to start, as well as paid sick days as described in agency policy.
