What is the role?
As a Senior Electrical Engineer, you will lead the design and delivery of electrical and integrated security systems for building projects, guiding them from initial concept through to detailed design and completion. Your expertise will ensure that power distribution, lighting, emergency systems, fire alarms, and low-voltage security systems (such as access control, CCTV, intrusion detection, and intercom) are designed to meet client requirements and comply with relevant codes and standards. You will collaborate closely with architects, engineers, clients, and stakeholders to coordinate system integration and resolve design issues. Representing LEA in meetings, you will provide technical guidance and support strong relationships with clients and regulatory agencies.

In this role, your duties and responsibilities will include:
Technical and Design
- Lead the electrical and security system design for building projects from concept through to contract administration and construction completion.
- Design and coordinate power distribution, lighting, emergency systems, and fire alarm systems.
- Design integrated low-voltage security systems including access control, surveillance (CCTV), intrusion detection, and intercom systems.
- Prepare and review detailed electrical and security design drawings and specifications using AutoCAD and Revit.
- Perform electrical calculations (load, voltage drop, lighting) and ensure code compliance.
- Select and specify equipment aligned with project requirements, codes, and standards.
Meetings and liaison:
- Collaborate with architects, engineers, and clients to ensure coordinated and efficient system integration.
- Participate in project meetings, addressing design-related queries and providing technical input.
- Represent LEA in coordination meetings with clients, stakeholders, and internal teams to ensure the successful delivery of high-quality project designs.
Clients and BD
- Manage and coordinate relationships with clients, stakeholders, and third parties, including liaison with reviewing agencies where applicable.
- Act as an ambassador for LEA, promoting our expertise and services to current and potential clients, leveraging existing relationships and building new ones.
- Assist in the preparation of proposals and participate in the preparation and presentation of the technical report to the clients.
- Cultivate and sustain strong relationships with clients, stakeholders, and regulatory agencies to ensure project success and support long-term business growth.
Project Management:
- Manage and support the delivery of electrical projects, ensuring they are completed on time, within scope, budget, and quality standards.
- Monitor project progress, including schedules and budgets, to ensure smooth and efficient execution.
- Develop project plans by defining timelines, creating schedules and cost estimates, and overseeing progress to ensure deliverables are met on time and within budget for both internal teams and sub-consultants.
- Track project budgets, accounts receivable (where applicable), and other key metrics, preparing regular status reports to maintain project efficiency.
- Provide regular status reports, highlighting progress, key milestones, and potential risks or delays.
- Ensure quality control and quality assurance measures are followed throughout the project.
Staff Management
- Supervise and train staff to meet project requirements, including developing their technical and project management skills.
Other:
- Continuously grow professional skills and knowledge through training sessions, seminars, workshops, and involvement in professional associations to stay updated on the latest trends, software, and technology.
- Assisting with managing other related assignments within the scope of the Transportation & Systems Division.
The qualifications you need:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering.
- 15 years of experience in the electrical design of building systems.
- Licensed Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) with the Professional Engineers Ontario (PEO).
- Proven experience in the design of integrated security systems, including access control, CCTV, intrusion detection, and intercom within building environments.
- Proficient in AutoCAD and/or Revit for electrical system design.
- Skilled in lighting design software such as Dialux or AGi32.
- Familiarity with major security platforms such as Genetec, Lenel, and Avigilon.
- Experienced in preparing detailed electrical and security specifications.
- Knowledge of LEED design principles and energy-efficient building practices.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to coordinate across multiple design disciplines.
- Demonstrated ability to lead projects, manage timelines, and deliver high-quality work under tight deadlines.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to liaise effectively with clients, consultants, and internal teams.
- Proven ability to mentor and guide junior engineers and designers.
- Self-motivated with a commitment to continuous learning and professional growth.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary environment.
