Kofacart is an Ontario-based startup on a mission to make food and grocery shopping easier, smarter, and more affordable for the African community.

We're building a food and grocery app built for Africans, by Africans — connecting shoppers to their favorite African stores and restaurants, with a smart price comparison feature that ensures the best deals every time.

We've validated the concept, defined our growth plan, and started building our network of vendors. Now, we're looking for a Technical Co-Founder to lead our product development and take our vision to market.

Your Role:

• You will be responsible for all technical aspects of Kofacart, from building and scaling our mobile and web app to integrating payment systems, vendor dashboards, and the price comparison engine. As part of the founding team, you'll help shape the product roadmap and drive our technology strategy.

We're not just looking for a developer, we're looking for a builder, problem-solver, and visionary who can translate our mission into a seamless, scalable, and delightful product experience. You should be ready to own the entire technical journey of Kofacart, from MVP to mass adoption.

• Full-Stack Engineering Expertise: Strong skills in React/React Native, Node.js, or similar frameworks for web and mobile app development.
• Marketplace & E-commerce Knowledge: Proven experience building platforms where multiple vendors and buyers interact, with features like vendor onboarding, inventory management, search, and checkout.
• Systems Architecture Skills: Ability to design and maintain secure, scalable, and efficient systems, including cloud-based hosting and database optimization.
• API & Integration Mastery: Comfortable integrating third-party services such as payment gateways, logistics APIs, analytics tools, and price-comparison engines.
• User Experience Sensibility: Understands the importance of clean UI/UX, especially for first-time app users, and can work with designers to create an intuitive interface.
• Security & Compliance Awareness: Knowledge of data privacy, secure transactions, and compliance in the Canadian e-commerce space.
• Agile & Startup Mentality: Comfortable working in a fast-paced, resource-conscious environment where priorities shift as we learn from our users.
• Problem-Solving Drive: Not afraid to get hands-on with code, troubleshoot complex issues, and adapt solutions for the unique needs of African communities in the diaspora.
• Vision & Leadership: Can see beyond the code to the long-term potential of Kofacart and help recruit and lead a future tech team as we grow.
