As a Parts Assistant, you will play a critical role in coordinating inventory, maintaining relationships with vendors, suppliers, and contractors, maintaining an organized system for ease of sourcing and accessing parts. You will also be required to work with the purchasing department to source and order parts and supplies as required. You are responsible for ensuring proper housekeeping measures are being met and to ensure parts room and related storage spaces are clean and organized.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Ensure all parts and purchasing orders are entered into the system and all appropriate follow ups are completed
  • Maintain parts inventory in an organized system for ease of sourcing and accessing parts
  • Required to track inventory and maintain level of inventory in parts vending machines
  • Assist with the purchasing department including but not limited to, sourcing and ordering parts or supplies
  • Provide support to the maintenance team by assisting in projects, work orders, and basic mechanical tasks
  • Ensure access rights to premises and inventory are being adhered to
  • Maintain strong relationships with different suppliers, vendors, and contractors
  • Ensure proper housekeeping measures are being followed to ensure the parts room and storage facilities are clean and organized
  • Make daily trips off-site for parts, supplies, and miscellaneous pickup and deliveries

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid Class 5 drivers' license
  • Mechanical and electrical aptitude is an asset
  • Preference to those with experience in a Trades' environment or in a Parts department
  • Strong computer proficiency, especially with Microsoft Office; willingness to learn new systems.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and customer service skills.
  • Team-oriented with proven problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
  • Ability to obtain or currently hold forklift certification.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Comfortable working in a grain processing environment with allergens.
  • Willingness to follow written and oral instructions and document workflows accurately.

Hours of work

This position will be working 8 hours per day, Monday to Friday. Additional off-hour accessibility may be required
