Position Overview

This position sits within the North America Life Finance team, focusing on delivering meaningful financial reporting and analysis for the US life reinsurance business. Key responsibilities include:

  • Preparing quarterly regulatory returns and filings, including audited statements and RBC metrics. Coordinating with auditors to complete the annual audit.

  • Managing regulatory relationships and overseeing statutory quinquennial audits.

  • Supporting analysis and communication of technical and financial results for senior management and the Board.

  • Assisting with US corporate tax return preparation.

  • Monitoring and projecting capital requirements to ensure compliance with regulatory and management standards.

  • Assessing the impact of emerging accounting standards (US GAAP, US STAT, and others) on the business.

  • Evaluating process and control implications of new transactions, including complex structures and financial reinsurance, and implementing necessary changes.

  • Reconciling the PeopleSoft General Ledger and SUN sub-ledger; collaborating with group reporting teams to support quarterly reporting.

  • Partnering with functions such as Valuation, Administration, and Legal/Compliance on operational and reporting matters.

  • Collaborating with global, regional, and local teams to ensure consistent, reliable reporting and analysis.

  • Participating in the annual planning cycle.

  • Leading ad hoc projects, such as reviewing operating procedures and analyzing accounting transactions.

  • Maintaining documentation of processes, particularly SOX-related, including narratives and flow charts.

  • Managing the US Life Reporting and Analysis team.

Qualifications

Seeking an experienced accountant (10+ years post-qualification) with a broad background in financial reporting and operational finance. The ideal candidate will have worked in a global re/insurance environment and is eager to grow in a dynamic, multicultural setting.

Required Experience & Skills

  • CPA designation.

  • US Statutory and US GAAP reporting experience.

  • Proficiency with major general ledger and reporting systems (e.g., PeopleSoft, SunSystems, nVision, Business Objects).

  • Experience with US corporate tax (preferred).

  • Proven team leadership, ideally across multiple locations.

  • Strong Microsoft Office skills, especially Excel and PowerPoint.

  • Familiarity with complex entity structures, multicurrency reporting, and multiple accounting bases.

  • Collaborative mindset with the ability to work across geographies and time zones.

  • Adaptability to fast-paced environments and willingness to embrace new challenges.

  • Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.

  • Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and attention-to-detail skills.
