Were looking for a Senior Backend Engineer to join our Platform team and help design, implement, and maintain the high-quality backend APIs and services that power Motions core operations. Your work will enable teams across the company to access, use, and scale our data across multiple product lines.
Our stack is built on Node.js, TypeScript, Azure, and MongoDB along with any other tools that make our work simpler, faster, and more effective. This is a role for an engineer who thrives on taking systems from 1 to 100 and building for scale, performance, and long-term maintainability.
What You Will DoArchitect and build resilient, performant backend solutions
Collaborate with engineers across teams to deliver complex backend features and integrations
Maintain and improve existing integrations, ensuring systems scale with company growth
Diagnose and resolve errors, performance issues, and developer experience (DevEx) challenges
Drive engineering improvements by identifying opportunities for better tools, patterns, and processes
Building a unified API for our insights data, enabling consistent access for all development teams
Storing and serving insights and metrics from multiple data providers at scale
Improving integration architecture to anticipate future product needs
10+ years of experience building and maintaining large-scale software applications
Proven experience taking systems from 1 to 100 (scaling a product from early adoption to widespread usage)
Strong backend development skills in Node.js and TypeScript
Experience with cloud environments (Azure preferred) and NoSQL databases (MongoDB preferred)
Ability to troubleshoot and optimize complex systems for performance and scalability
Hybrid: Toronto-based role with 1-2 days/week in our downtown co-working space
