Job Title: Senior Data Engineer, Compliance
Location: Hybrid (3 days remote), Toronto, Canada
Experience: 5 to 7 Years

Role Summary: NearSource is looking for a Senior Data Engineer to join a long-term engineering initiative with a Fortune 500 client. This role demands autonomy, attention to detail, and a deep passion for building scalable data solutions that deliver business impact.

Key Responsibilities

  • Architect scalable systems aligned with business requirements and long-term data strategy
  • Lead the design and implementation of data pipelines for batch and real-time processing
  • Automate cloud infrastructure, services, and observability layers to ensure operational efficiency
  • Drive the development of CI/CD pipelines and automated testing frameworks
  • Collaborate with cross-functional data teams to establish engineering best practices
  • Analyze business challenges and use data to provide actionable recommendations
  • Deliver enterprise-grade analytics solutions focused on performance, segmentation, and growth
  • Design interactive dashboards and executive-level reporting assets

Must-Have Skills

  • 5 - 7 years of experience in big data systems and large-scale data processing
  • 3+ years of hands-on experience with Spark data frames, Spark SQL, and PySpark
  • Proficient in Python and SQL with a focus on modular, maintainable code
  • Strong command of SQL and experience with Hive and Snowflake
  • Skilled in using ETL workflow orchestration tools such as Airflow
  • Demonstrated ability to build reports using BI platforms like Power BI, Qlik, or Tableau
  • Experience with Git and CI/CD tools such as Jenkins
  • Familiarity with data exploration tools such as Jupyter, EMR Notebooks, or Apache Zeppelin

Nice-to-Have Skills

  • Experience with Looker for data modeling and analytics

Certifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related discipline; equivalent practical experience accepted
