About this Role:

As a Tube Bender, you will be responsible for manipulating and bending pipes of various sizes to meet the design and operational specifications of our custom, made-to-order refrigeration equipment. Utilizing an array of hydraulic and pneumatic machines and tools, you will ensure precision and quality while strictly adhering to our organizations safety standards and production goals. This role demands keen attention to detail, strong problem-solving skills, and proficiency in reading and interpreting piping schematics. A solid understanding of angles, radii, and basic mathematics, along with excellent tape-measuring skills, is essential for success.


Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Read and interpret piping schematics to manipulate various pipe sizes, ensuring adherence to design, operational, and quality standards.
  • Operate and set up hydraulic and pneumatic machines, including tube benders, swedgers, and various saws, to achieve precise pipe bends.
  • Conduct thorough inspections of work for defects, verifying that all parts meet quality standards and tolerances, and promptly report any irregularities or issues to the lead hand or supervisor.
  • Make necessary adjustments to correct misalignment or defects, ensuring that all parts meet required specifications.
  • Perform routine cleaning and basic maintenance on machines to ensure optimal performance and reliability.
  • Braze components as required to create strong, leak-proof joints for assembly and piping.
  • Maintain safe working conditions and adhere to all organizational and provincial safety guidelines.
  • Follow all production procedures as instructed and perform all work to manufacturing specifications.
  • Work effectively, as part of a team, in a unionized environment to ensure quality and productivity.
  • Ensure the daily and weekly production schedule is adhered to.
  • Participate in educational and training sessions as necessary.
  • Complete other duties and tasks as assigned by the supervisor.


Preferred qualifications include:

  • Must be reliable, punctual and able to work in a fast-paced, labour-intensive manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical schematics, especially piping diagrams.
  • Strong working mechanical knowledge of machines, tools, and the materials used in pipe/tube bending.
  • Previous brazing or piping experience are considered an asset.
  • Proficient in basic math for accurate measurements, calculations, and problem solving.
  • Demonstrate strong visual-spatial awareness to effectively interpret schematics and visualize the final product/ result.
  • Committed to maintaining high standards of quality and safety.
  • College diploma in industrial or mechanical engineering, electrical, HVACR, or equivalent work experience in a related field is preferred.
  • Adaptable and flexible with the ability to adjust to changing tasks and priorities.
  • Hold or be eligible to obtain in-house crane certification.

Core Physical requirements include the ability to:

  • Stand for prolonged periods throughout the shift (10 hours)
  • Lift up to 50 pounds throughout the shift
  • Regularly bend, twist, and climb ladders as needed throughout the shift.
  • Ability to work in awkward positions as needed throughout the shift.
  • Perform work at/ above shoulder level regularly throughout the shift
  • Power and pinch grip with both hands consistently throughout the shift


Hours of Work: Monday to Thursday 4:00 pm - 2:30 am

Location of Work: 159 Roy Blvd, Brantford, ON, N3R 7K1

Wage: As per current CBA Wage Progression ($28.26 - $35.07)
