Key Responsibilities:
- Operate a roller or compactor to compress and finish asphalt on roads, parking lots, and other surfaces.
- Ensure even compaction to meet required density specifications and project standards.
- Monitor and adjust roller settings for optimal performance based on conditions and material.
- Work closely with the paver operator and rakers to ensure a smooth and uniform surface.
- Inspect equipment daily and perform basic maintenance and cleaning.
- Recognize and report equipment issues or surface defects to the supervisor.
- Follow all safety procedures and wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Assist with other general labor or paving duties as required.
- Previous experience operating rollers or compactors in asphalt paving preferred.
- Knowledge of compaction techniques, equipment limitations, and best practices.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to judge surface smoothness and density.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced outdoor environment.
- Team player with good communication skills.
- Ability to sit for long periods and operate heavy equipment safely.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs and work in outdoor conditions (heat, dust, noise).
- Good hand-eye coordination and spatial awareness.
