SALES ASSOCIATE (PAINT)

FULL-TIME

($16.75 - $19 hourly)

Hours: Days, Evenings, Weekends

JOB DESCRIPTION:

The Sales Associate (Paint) is responsible for providing outstanding customer service and helping to create the best shopping experience possible for our customers. Sales Associates are responsible for maintaining store standards, receiving and merchandising product, stocking shelves, maintaining accurate inventory, operating the cash, and other duties as may be assigned.The Paint Sales Associate has a particular focus on maintaining and growing business in the paint department. Their specialized duties include providing customers with technical product advice, assisting customers with product and colour selections, and mixing paints and stains. Paint Associates are expected to stay current with technical and colour trends. A love of people and a curiosity around their projects is a definite asset.DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Perform all duties safely, according to prescribed methods and processes.
• Ensure customers are greeted warmly when entering the store or the paint department.
• Provide excellent service at all times by focusing on the customer's needs
• Drive sales throughout the store
• Maintain excellent store standards of cleanliness, merchandising, and inventory integrity
• Maintain accurate inventory records through the receiving and processing of stock
• Maintain accurate price labels and signage on merchandise, bins, displays, etc. as necessary.
• Maintain storage areas in a safe, orderly, & tidy manner
• Conduct regular inventory cycle-counts and spot-checks as assigned
• Help with unloading and putting away freight throughout the store
• Work on the cash as required
• Assist customers in locating merchandise in store, on homehardware.ca, and process special orders.
• Be aware of ongoing store promotions and sales
• Attend store meetings, training sessions, etc. as required

PAINT SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Help create attractive in-store displays and signage for sales, promotions, and other special events
• Drive sales in the paint department through creative merchandising
• Promote Home's Paint Loyalty Program to customers.
• Maintain excellent standards in the paint department, paint service counter, and chip racks
• Offer product knowledge, expert technical advice, and paint expertise to our customers
• Perform colour consultations and matching as required
• Mix paint and stain to customer requests
• Maintain an attitude and desire for continuous learning and development to ensure we provide the most current and accurate technical product knowledge to our customers

QUALIFICATIONS:

• The ideal candidate will come to us with previous experience in paint retailing (including colour matching, mixing, knowledge of Paint & Décor products and best practices)
• Paint experience (including colour matching, sales and marketing, and knowledge of Paint & Decor products) is an asset but not a requirement. In store training will be provided as needed.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule including a combination of daytime, weekends, evenings, and holidays.
• Friendly and helpful attitude toward customers, and fellow staff members.

• Excellent communication skills, exceptional organizational ability, high attention to detail, and ability to multitask.
• Creative abilities for making attractive in-store displays.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Able to lift up to 50 pounds frequently to load and unload customer orders.
• Move and handle boxes of merchandise and fixtures throughout the store.
• Ability to stand for an extended period of time.
