Description
Reporting to the warehouse supervisor, this position is responsible for the administrative and operational duties associated with warehouse functions, including shipping, receiving, space management, and the appraisal of government assets that are declared surplus for disposal and are properly accounted for. This position has a component of customer service in sales and asset management requiring customer service excellence. This position is also responsible for ensuring government data on electronic storage devices is removed or destroyed.
Duties/Responsibilities:
1. Prepare material for Online Auction Sales, Onsite Auction and Cash and Carry Sales
* Photograph items to be posted on the Online Surplus Sales Information Public Access (OSSIPA) website.
* Prepare detail item description worksheet and product information for each Online auction item
* Price items for cash and carry sale ensuring prices are clearly identified
* Verify, assemble, display and tag sale items.
* Prepare items for shipment and ship items to successful Online Auction bidders when payment received.
* Provide customer assistance with previewing, answering inquiries about sale process and with loading items purchased as required
* Review sale returns and utilize marketing strategies to maximize returns.2. Receive surplus assets into the warehouse.
* Operate material handling equipment, including multiple types of forklifts, pallet jacks and wheelers for the purpose of loading and unloading trucks.
* Allocate and manage warehouse space in a practical and efficient manner.
* Verify and ensure accuracies and descriptions, against department declarations.
* Identify discrepancies, which may be shortages or overages, and have them reported to Declaring Officers for acknowledgement.
* Pickup and deliver material and equipment with fleet vehicle as and when required.
3. Inspect all surplus assets to determine their value and condition, and if they can be redeployed back into Government.
* Appraise and allocate material and equipment to appropriate sale or disposal method to attain maximum returns ensuring all items are properly accounted for.
* Encourage client departments to make use of reusable assets ensuring an efficient redeployment program. Assure all material and equipment to be redeployed meet client requirements.
* Allocate computer equipment to the Computers for Schools Program that meets their requirements.
* Responsible for the removal, disposal and destruction of all electronic data storage devices.
* Use tools such as the Internet to better market and or better understand specialty equipment.
4. Recycling of Products and Garbage Disposal of non- saleable products
* Identify and allocate recyclable material to appropriate recyclers.
* Ensure all non-recyclable material is disposed of through a controlled garbage system.
* Ensure hazardous waste is identified and returned back to declaring department.
* Ensure that non-saleable electronic equipment including computers and peripherals are disposed in an economic and environmentally responsible manner.
5. Warehouse Duties and Equipment Maintenance
* Ensure safe work practices and a safe work environment for all employees and the public.
* Maintain and perform minor servicing on material handling equipment to ensure safety and problem free long life.
* Ensuring security of premises and material on an on going basis
6. Support Cash and Carry program
* Assist customers, customer services.
* Generate sales receipts
* Collect sales proceeds
* Handling of cash, Credit or Debit, issue correct change.
* Assist in loading purchased goods
Working Hours/location:
• Standard Hours of work are 8:15 to 4:30 with a lunch break (30 minutes) Alberta time, Monday through Friday excluding holidays observed by the province.
Standard Background check required.
