Job Summary:
We are seeking a reliable and safety-conscious Tow Truck Driver / Roadside Assistance Technician to join our growing team. The successful candidate will provide prompt and professional roadside assistance and towing services while maintaining excellent customer service and adhering to safety standards. This role requires mechanical aptitude, strong communication skills, and the ability to work in varying weather and traffic conditions.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide towing and roadside assistance safely and efficiently.
Respond to service calls via Towbook Software; complete call documentation accurately and on time.
Perform pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections; maintain truck fluids and overall vehicle condition.
Ensure clean, safe, and operational equipment and truck.
Remove debris from accident scenes and tow damaged vehicles when required.
Perform vehicle lockouts, battery boosts, tire changes, and other basic roadside repairs.
Follow all Municipal, Provincial, and Federal driving laws; maintain a clean driving record.
Maintain professional appearance, hygiene, and wear company-approved uniform.
Attend safety meetings and complete required training and certifications.
Maintain a clean and organized storage yard and company vehicle.
Accurately complete invoices, log sheets, and submit daily reports.
Provide business cards and excellent customer service during all interactions.
Adhere to client site-specific rules and company safety policies.
Perform other related duties as required by management.
Qualifications:
Minimum High School Diploma (Grade 12).
Valid Driver's License (Class appropriate for vehicle driven).
Clean driving abstract with no more than:
1 preventable accident or
2 moving violations in the past 3 years.
Ability to pass a criminal background check and drug screening.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Strong mechanical aptitude and knowledge of basic vehicle systems.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Basic math skills including ability to calculate rates and percentages.
Ability to prioritize, multitask, and work independently or in a team.
Strong problem-solving and customer service skills.
Professional, respectful, and calm demeanor—even under stress.
Must be organized, punctual, and reliable.
Ability to maintain confidentiality and follow company protocols.
Flexibility to work overtime, weekends, and on-call shifts as required.
Physical Requirements:
Must be able to lift up to 75 lbs safely.
Frequent bending, lifting, twisting, kneeling, crouching, and standing.
Ability to drive for extended periods and perform roadside duties in all weather conditions.
Work Environment:
Exposure to outside weather conditions (rain, snow, heat, cold, wind).
Work near moving mechanical parts and in high-traffic areas.
Occasional exposure to fumes, airborne particles, and moderate noise levels.
Work Conditions:
Subject to criminal record and background checks.
Must comply with Company and DOT safety regulations.
Drug and alcohol testing in accordance with FMCSA guidelines.
Must meet insurance and fleet safety program standards.
