Legal Administrative Assistant - Corporate Commercial
Location: Surrey, in-office
Salary: $60,000 - $72,000, depending on experience.
Our client is currently seeking a full-time Corporate Commercial LAA with a minimum of 4 years of experience to join our firm.
About the role:
Duties include
- Opening, organizing, and closing files
- Performing corporate searches, LTO searches and due diligence searches
- Conducting legal research through various databases and review of Provincial and Federal legislation to ensure compliance
- Obtaining pertinent information, drafting memorandums, and updating records as required
- Drafting and sending correspondence to clients, purchasers, solicitors, and financial institutions
- Drafting due diligence reports for clients, monitoring, and reporting on due diligence for transactions
- Drafting Corporate, Commercial and Real Estate Agreements
- Assisting in asset purchases and commercial transactions by preparing options to purchase and various Land Title Office forms, preparing required securities documents for loan files and coordinating receipt and disbursements of monies for various property transactions
- Managing intake of documents and file related materials and updating binders
- Scheduling client meetings, and maintaining electronic calendars
- Meeting with clients for client intake, review of agreements and document packages and witnessing signatures to same
- Maintaining a BF and limitation system
- Frequent communication with clients and solicitors in charge of transactions
- Other administrative tasks as needed
About you:
- A Legal Administrative Assistant Certificate from an accredited post-secondary institution
- Minimum of 3 years of working experience as an LAA
- Working knowledge of BC Online and myLTSA
- Knowledge of Real Estate Practice Guidelines, Land Titles Act, and other procedures, statutes, rules, and regulations applicable to real property law
- Basic familiarity in conveyancing is an asset
- Proficient with MS Word and Outlook
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Excellent time management skills and ability to prioritize
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to exercise good judgement, professionalism, and to maintain confidentiality
- Ability to handle a high volume of work in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment
