The RoleThe role of Production Planner is instrumental with managing the status of open production orders, entering such production orders and inventory levels. This position reports to the Production Planning Manager and interacts heavily with the Operations Team.
What You Will DoProduction Planning- Analyze work orders for completeness of material and resources.
- Maintain production schedules to align with commitments.
- Estimate delivery dates for quotes and orders.
- Maintain plant on-time delivery performance or above 95%.
- Release jobs to the production floor.
- Review material resources plans (daily) and identify issues with MRP, transfers, and raw materials
- Review reports, variances and other data (e.g. scrap, rework) from production.
- Schedule, expedite, and coordinate the movement of jobs.
- Conduct cycle counts for finished goods.
- Identify losses to inventory and conduct root-cause analysis of such losses.
- Maintain accurate and adequate WIP inventory for various stocking programs.
- Monitor raw material inventories and forecast demand.
- Plan and schedule replenishment jobs.
- Evaluate the effectiveness of the production planning function and processes.
- Identify and implement improvements to the production planning process.
- Support and initiate LEAN practices
- Able to perform in a high-volume, results-focused work environment.
- Able to prioritize workload and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Able to use Microsoft Windows applications.
- Advanced Excel knowledge skills.
- Able to work effectively with minimal direct supervision (i.e. self-directed).
