- Assist in the preparation of scopes of work, cost estimates and schedules for facilities planning studies.
- Conducts evaluations of client facilities to assess short term and long-term space needs and produce feasibility studies.
- Preparing and reviewing designs, layout plans, specifications and standards that comply with building regulations, industry best practices and organizational requirements.
- Conduct regular facility inspections and recommend improvements.
- Estimate costs for labour, material, services. Generates, monitors and updates project plans and timelines with task details, deliverables and status updates.
- Assist clients with developing and implementing appropriate facilities, facility management plans and procedures in support of their specific objectives.
- Apply site feasibility, planning and engineering practice, as appropriate, and is familiar with applicable regulations and permitting processes.
- Ensure the maintenance of accurate records and databases for facility-related activities.
- Collaborate with internal teams to resolve facility-related issues and improve processes.
- Manage facility-related contracts and vendor relationships
- Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations
- Prepare and manage facility-related budgets
- Be cognizant of and/or manage time and project costs to ensure project profitability
- Bachelor's and or Master's degree in Urban Planning, Architecture, Engineering, Facilities Management or related area, or equivalent, and two years of applied experience in planning, evaluating and developing facility improvement projects
- Prior experience leading a minimum of 3-5 master plans within the educational sector (K-12 and/or Colleges and Universities)
- 5+ years of related experience in facilities planning or facilities management
- Deep understanding of building codes and regulations, as well as the latest trends in technology, sustainability, and design and space planning
- Proficiency with facility management software
- Experience with budget management and financial planning
- Ability to work with diverse teams
- LEED certification or other relevant industry certifications
- Ability to work effectively with all levels of management and staff
- Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and meet deadlines
- Strong project management skills
- Knowledge of local, state, and federal regulations related to facilities management
- Proficiency with computer applications and databases.
- Excellent written, verbal and visual graphic communications skills, and experience with graphical software and Microsoft Office desired.
- Knowledge of facility planning policies and principals, economic development and redevelopment practices, federal and state statutory and regulatory requirements, real estate, public and private financing practices required.
- Must be able to communicate and work well with staff, clients and consultants, including elected and appointed officials at the highest levels of government.
- 10 years of experience providing facility/asset management for public or private sector facilities.
- Excellent technical writing skills are required. Reporting is to be concise, follow company report formats and be based on project specific evidence
- Excellent organizational and time management skills to ensure projects are delivered on time and on budget
- Effective, responsive communication (verbally and written) with the Project Team and Clients
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel is required
- French language ability (oral and/or written) is considered an asset
- A valid driver's license and access to insured vehicle for travel to project sites is required (work related mileage is reimbursed)
