Role

Reporting to the Area Manager, the Telecommunications Manager is responsible for facilitating, establishing, and executing plans policies, and construction activities to their assigned projects. This role is responsible for facilitating the implementation of the company's priorities and objectives while coordinating between Area Managers, Project Managers, and his or her assigned Telecommunications Team. The Telecommunications Manager will oversee and direct a team, oversee operations and deliverables of Rising Edge Technologies while establishing long-term relationships with clients and business partners. This role will also focus on the continuous improvement of the company's business model to maximize productivity and growth.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, mentor, and develop the telecom operations team, fostering a culture of performance excellence.
  • Oversee the day-to-day telecommunications operations, ensuring systems are efficient and meet departmental objectives.
  • Develop and implement telecommunication strategies that align with REG's operational goals and optimize communication systems.
  • Ensure regulatory compliance with standards for telecommunications systems and practices, particularly related to safety and reliability.
  • Manage vendor relationships, negotiations, and contracts for telecommunication services and equipment.
  • Monitor budgets and expenditures related to telecom projects and services, ensuring efficient allocation of resources.
  • Implement and oversee technology enhancements that improve service delivery and operational processes.
  • Analyze performance data and prepare reports to communicate goals, metrics, and initiatives to senior management.
  • Stay current with telecom advancements and trends, assessing their applicability to the organization.
  • Ensure adequate training and development opportunities are available for team members to enhance skills and capabilities.
  • Review engineering packages and provide constructability assessments and material validation prior to field execution

Requirements

Qualifications

  • Degree or Diploma in Telecommunications, Electrical Engineering or a a Journeyperson PSE/Electrician designation required.
  • A minimum of 7 years of experience in telecommunications management or a similar leadership role.
  • In-depth knowledge of utility telecommunications systems, infrastructure, and technologies.
  • Proven experience in project management, budget oversight, and managing vendor contracts.
  • Excellent leadership skills with experience managing diverse teams.
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to use data to drive decision-making.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills for effective engagement with stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and execute strategic initiatives in a telecom environment.
  • Knowledge of telecommunications regulatory compliance and industry standards.
  • Experience in the high Voltage utility and substation field would be a major asset.
  • Relevant professional certifications (e.g., PMP, ITIL, Telecommunications Certification) are an asset.
  • Must have the ability to work in adverse weather conditions and have a valid Class 5 driver's license
  • Willing to work out of town and on rotation as required per project basis, with approximately 50% of your time in the field. REG covers accommodations and provides a LOA.
  • Willing to work outside of working hours and schedules to support team as required
  • Willing to work on-call as required by project basis
