Position Summary

The Lead Hand is responsible for overseeing and project managing all apartment renovations for Homestead Land Holdings, which owns a portfolio of apartment buildings. This role will manage the coordination and execution of internal & external trade work, ensuring that projects are completed efficiently, on time, and within budget. The Lead Hand will work closely with various trades, vendors, and the renovation team to ensure all renovations meet quality standards and that deficiencies are addressed promptly. The Lead Hand will also assist inspecting Capital projects as required.

Key Responsibilities
  • Project Management: Oversee and manage renovation projects from start to finish. Coordinate internal and external trade teams to ensure tasks are completed on schedule and to high standards.
  • Scope of Work (SOW): Write and develop detailed scopes of work for all trades, ensuring that expectations are clearly defined and agreed upon by all parties.
  • Coordination of Materials: Ensure all materials are ordered, delivered, and available on-site in a timely manner to avoid delays and disruptions to the work schedule.
  • Quality Control: Regularly inspect work completed by trades to ensure it meets company standards. Address and resolve any deficiencies promptly.
  • Deficiency Management: Ensure all deficiencies from inspections are documented and resolved. Work with contractors to address any issues and ensure the work is completed to satisfaction.
  • Capex Projects: Assist with Capex inspections as needed (Capital Expenditure) projects in addition to regular renovations, ensuring that resources are allocated appropriately.
  • Asana Utilization: Use Asana as the primary project management tool to track tasks, manage timelines, communicate with the team, and keep all project details organized.
  • Team Leadership & Communication: Lead and communicate with all trades and contractors on-site, ensuring that work progresses as planned. Provide direction and support to the team to ensure they have what they need for success.
  • Safety Compliance: Ensure that all projects comply with safety regulations and that the work environment remains safe for all workers and residents.
  • Reporting & Documentation: Provide regular updates and reports on project status, timelines, and budget to Management. Maintain accurate records of all project-related documentation.
Requirements
  • Valid Ontario driver's license
  • Project Management experience/certificate considered an asset, but not necessary
  • Success in organizing, planning and coordinating project start-ups, commencement and close-outs; multitasking required
  • Effectively communicate with contractors and suppliers
  • Reporting relevant information to management
