Here's the opportunity:
The Entrepreneurship Coach, Indigenous Entrepreneurs will work primarily but not exclusively, with young Indigenous entrepreneurs and mentors, and act as a key resource in the idea & business plan development phase, as well as the post-launch phase. This incumbent provides training facilitation, coaching, advisory services, and additional support to young Indigenous entrepreneurs around starting, buying and growing a business throughout their entrepreneurial journey with Futurpreneur.
Reporting to the Senior Director, Community Engagement, you will work closely along a national team of Entrepreneurship Coaches and other client facing teams (Business Development, Client Services, Communities) to help create an exceptional client experience that illuminates the value of Futurpreneur's offerings throughout their entrepreneurial journey.
This is a permanent full-time position, that can be located anywhere in Canada, with a preference for Alberta, Saskatchewan or Manitoba. The incumbent will work under our hybrid work model (minimum 2 day in the office).
What you will do:
Counselling Entrepreneurs (Applied stage & beyond) & Community-building (75%)
- Provide expert coaching and guidance to Indigenous entrepreneurs who are actively seeking financing with mentorship from Futurpreneur. This includes coaching on refining a business plan, developing realistic cash flow projections, marketing strategies, business structure requirements, competitor analysis, and risk mitigation plans.
- Offer personalized support to Indigenous entrepreneurs via phone, video calls, emails, and in person meetings.
- Foster long-term relationships with Indigenous entrepreneurs, serving as a trusted advisor by conducting post-launch follow-up support meetings (individually or in groups).
- Facilitate key community-building activities such as onboarding sessions, office hours, networking and group discussions that help Indigenous entrepreneurs and mentors engage with and learn from each other
- Work in close collaboration with internal teams, including Programs, Client Services and Client Support teams, to ensure the smooth and effective delivery of Futurpreneur's services to Indigenous entrepreneurs and mentors
Training Entrepreneurs & Mentors (15%)
- Deliver national webinars, bootcamps, and workshops, on the essentials of business planning, cash flow management, marketing, and other key elements of entrepreneurship, such as Futurpreneur's core training programs (e.g. Rock My Business, #OwnersWanted, Growth Accelerator)
- Support the Mentoring team, as needed,in delivering trainings and guidance to mentors (individually or in groups), to help strengthen their relationships with Indigenous entrepreneurs.
- Proactively share helpful content and resources, such as blogs, videos and programs with Indigenous entrepreneurs to ensure they are aware of and fully utilizing available tools.
Subject matter expert responsibilities (10%)
- Provide your expertise and make recommendations to continuously improve Futurpreneur's programs and services
- Help inform special projects and new program development to support Indigenous entrepreneurs at all stages, as well as mentors
- Contribute to Futurpreneur-hosted events, leveraging your expertise to support its mission and elevate its visibility as the ‘go-to organization' for young Indigenous entrepreneurs
- Stay informed of emerging trends, challenges, and opportunities within the entrepreneurial ecosystem to ensure coaching practices, resources, and business insights remain relevant and responsive to the evolving needs of young Indigenous entrepreneurs
What you bring:
- Relevant experience may include education with a focus on business administration, economic development, entrepreneurship or equivalent hands-on career experience
- Hands on experience working with and advising entrepreneurs or business start-ups
- Deep understanding of business fundamentals such as business plans and cash flows with strong expertise in financial analysis
- Credentials in business coaching from recognized organizations (e.g., International Coaching Federation [ICF], or a business coaching program) – would be considered a strong asset
- Demonstrated experience, knowledge and understanding of the barriers and opportunities experienced by young Indigenous entrepreneurs and Indigenous-led and Indigenous-focused community organizations
- Proven experience in facilitating large training sessions, webinars, presentations
- Ability to synthesize complex information to guide entrepreneurs
- Demonstrated ability to work independently with shifting priorities
- Ability to work effectively in a team and across various teams
- Superior interpersonal skills with strong written and verbal communication skills, exceptional active listening, powerful questioning and feedback delivery skills
- Strong customer service experience with ability to tailor guidance
- Thorough working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook)
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and capacity to adapt
- An interest and passion in youth entrepreneurship – a strong asset
- Experience in more than one industry is considered an asset
