The Woodfibre LNG Project is located approximately 7 km west-southwest of Squamish, British Columbia. It involves the construction and operation of a liquefied natural gas (LNG) export facility on the previous Woodfibre pulp mill site, which would have a storage capacity of 250,000 m3 and would produce approximately 2.1 million tons per year of LNG.

Woodfibre Management Ltd. is a privately held Canadian company based in Vancouver and a subsidiary of Pacific Energy Corporation Limited.

Position

The Project Manager - Marine will oversee the marine components of the WLNG project, including engineering, procurement, fabrication and construction of LNG plant facilities and marine infrastructure. The role will involve planning, development of methodology and review of various engineering deliverables related to LNG marine facilities, such as nearshore pile drilling, pile installation, substructure installation, module installation, and floating storage tank connections. You will be responsible for managing the near-shore installation phases of the project while ensuring seamless integration and SIMOPS with onshore facilities construction and modules hookup. The successful candidate reports directly to the Project Construction Director and will play an essential part in supporting the company's senior management team through the construction phase of the project, while leading cross-functional teams across multiple locations, including Houston, Asia-Pacific fabrication yards, and the Squamish site.

Key Responsibilities

The successful applicant will:

  • Serve as the focal point for all marine related project activities, including LNG plant facilities, marine terminal, jetties and associated infrastructure.
  • Manage construction activities from detailed engineering through to mechanical completion, commissioning, and handover to Operations.
  • Supervise and lead the project team, including engineers and support function from contracts, procurement and supply chain, project controls, fabrication, commissioning, operations, and maintenance.
  • Develop and manage the construction execution plan and provide input to the EPC contractor plans, procedures, and execution strategies.
  • Ensure the project meets all safety, regulatory, environmental, quality, and Canadian compliance standards.
  • Oversee EPC contractors and subcontractors, ensuring alignment with project objectives and standards.
  • Actively manage risks, scope, changes, cost, and schedule to ensure on-time, on-budget delivery.
  • Participate in contractor and supplier reviews, workshops, FATs, and audits to ensure constructability and quality.
  • Ensure implementation of a robust QA/QC plan and equipment/material preservation.
  • Prepare and deliver regular reports, presentations, and the final project closeout/handover documentation.
  • Provide strategic input to contracting strategy, project execution planning, and regulatory permitting.
  • Collaborate closely with internal teams, stakeholders, and external contractors to maintain clear and effective communication.
  • Travel globally to contractor offices (Houston), fabrication yards (Asia-Pacific), and supplier facilities as required..

Requirements

Required Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Construction Management (Civil, Structural, Mechanical preferred).
  • 20+ years of experience in large capital oil & gas projects, with 10+ years of direct supervisory/leadership experience.
  • Experience managing $1B+ EPC projects, with onshore and offshore execution exposure.
  • Solid understanding of HSES, quality management, project controls (cost/schedule), procurement and materials management.
  • Knowledge of LNG plant technologies, gas compression, gas processing, and marine terminal/jetties.
  • Familiarity with Canadian regulatory and project execution requirements is strongly preferred.

  • Strategic thinker with strong commercial and technical decision-making capabilities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex technical information clearly to senior management.
  • Ability to build strong relationships across multi-disciplinary, multi-cultural, and multi-company environments.
  • Proven leadership in high-pressure, fast-paced project environments.
  • Proficiency in project management software and tools (Office 365, MS Teams, MS Project, Adobe Acrobat, DocuSign, etc.).
  • Willingness to travel extensively and relocate temporarily to contractor or fabrication offices.
  • Legally entitled to work in Canada with a valid driver's license and passport.
  • Requires global travel for project execution, supplier audits, and key project milestones.
  • Flexibility to adapt to shifting project priorities and timelines across multiple regions.
