TreowGroup Recruitment, on behalf of our Etobicoke-based manufacturing client, is seeking a hands-on and solution-oriented Plastic Injection Engineer to support daily operations across a fast-paced production environment. This role is critical to ensuring the efficient operation of a new plastic injection molding line and also provides cross-functional support to other packaging and manufacturing equipment.
Reporting to the General Manager, this position is ideal for a technically strong, floor-engaged professional who thrives in real-time troubleshooting, thrives in cross-functional collaboration, and takes pride in improving both process and performance.
You will make your impact by:
  • Providing on-the-floor technical support to machine operators across plastic injection molding and non-plastic manufacturing lines (e.g., filling, capping, labeling, packaging).
  • Troubleshooting molding defects, process variations, and mechanical issues to minimize downtime and scrap.
  • Making real-time adjustments to process parameters and setups to optimize part quality, cycle times, and line efficiency.
  • Participating in mold and equipment changeovers, production trials, and machine startups.
  • Monitoring and analyzing production metrics (e.g., scrap rates, output, cycle times) to identify and correct issues proactively.
  • Assisting with mechanical diagnostics, small repairs, and adjustments on manufacturing equipment.
  • Collaborating with Maintenance, Quality, and Production teams to implement sustainable corrective actions and improve uptime.
  • Supporting process documentation, standard work updates, and improvement initiatives.
  • Coaching and mentoring operators to ensure proper setup, operation, and understanding of key process parameters.
  • Maintaining a proactive, highly visible presence on the production floor to address technical and operational needs in real time.

You are a great fit if you:
  • Hold a diploma or degree in Mechanical, Plastics, or Manufacturing Engineering—or possess equivalent technical experience.
  • Have a minimum of 3 years' experience in a plastic injection molding environment, ideally combined with general manufacturing exposure.
  • Excel at troubleshooting mechanical issues and resolving process problems directly on the floor.
  • Possess strong hands-on experience with automated and mechanical manufacturing systems.
  • Can read and interpret technical drawings, process documentation, and setup sheets.
  • Communicate clearly and work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
  • Thrive in a fast-paced, high-mix production environment and enjoy being part of the daily operational rhythm.
  • Are willing to work flexible hours or shifts, as required, to support business needs.

What our client offers:
  • Competitive base salary based on experience and qualifications
  • Comprehensive health & dental benefits
  • RRSP matching program for long-term financial security
  • A team-oriented culture focused on collaboration, problem-solving, and continuous improvement
  • Strong support from leadership teams who value hands-on contributions
  • The chance to work with a diverse mix of technologies and equipment across a dynamic manufacturing operation
