The Equipment Operator position will operate a full range of equipment involved in the maintenance and repair of projects for the City of Lloydminster Roadway Services.
Duties
- Safely and efficiently operate and perform maintenance checks and inspections on all assigned equipment, including but not limited to, tandem sanding/dump/plow trucks, flusher tanks, bobcats and trackless machines.
- Keep accurate documentation such as time sheets, equipment inspection forms and daily work records using computers or mobile devices.
- Perform heavy lifting and manual labour.
- Maintain all paved surfaces, including but not limited to, pothole patching, asphalt repair/patching, line painting, and sweeping.
- Perform winter maintenance, including but not limited to, operating sanding units, plow trucks, graders, loaders (with bucket or blower attachments), and tandem dump trucks.
- Clean and steam storm sewer culverts, ditches, and catch basins.
- Perform concrete work, including sidewalk replacement, wheelchair ramps, and lane aprons.
- Maintain all roads traffic control devices including but not limited to traffic lights, signs, road closures, sweeper and snow removal signs and barricades.
- Work at heights and operate the bucket truck for the purpose of traffic light repairs, sign repairs/installation and hanging Christmas decorations.
- Ensure equipment, material and tools are maintained, clean, operational and stored as per City of Lloydminster Policies and Procedures.
- Report all issues or concerns with equipment and/or safety to the supervisor.
- Other related duties as required.
- Adhere to the City of Lloydminster's Health and Safety Policy.
- This position is required to operate a municipal vehicle for business purposes.
- May require operation of equipment related to a Senior Equipment position.
Normal working hours for this position are Monday to Friday 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. with the occasional requirement to work outside these hours due to weather constraints. During the winter months there is a rotating night shift from Sunday to Friday 10:00 p.m. – 6:00 a.m. This position requires on-call and weekend shifts. Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalency.
- Must possess and maintain, as a minimum, a Class 3 Vehicle Operator's License with Air Endorsement. A clean driving record is mandatory, supported by a driver abstract. This position is required to operate a municipal vehicle for business purposes.
- Minimum 2 years' experience operating equipment (skid steers, sidewalk plow, tractor, tandem trucks or line painter).
- Must be in good physical condition, to accommodate long periods of standing and lifting up to 25 kg (55 lbs.).
- Must be able to work at heights using an aerial device safely and efficiently.
- Must be able to satisfactorily operate automatic single and tandem axle trucks, in accordance with recognized procedures.
- The successful candidate will be responsible and reliable, with the ability to work independently as well as in a team environment,
- Understand and follow oral or written instructions and,
- Communicate clearly and concisely; verbally and in writing,
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external customers,
- Able to read and interpret maps, sketches/drawings or specifications and technical manuals.
- Satisfactory Criminal Record Check.
- Successful applicant must provide proof of qualifications.
