Role Overview

Reporting to the Manager, Talent Acquisition, the Talent Acquisition Specialist plays a key role in supporting recruitment and hiring initiatives across the credit union. This role ensures a seamless experience for both candidates and hiring managers by coordinating job postings, managing interview scheduling, maintaining the applicant tracking system, and contributing to diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) efforts, including bilingual hiring. The Talent Acquisition Specialist collaborates closely with internal and external partners to attract talent that supports Assiniboine Credit Union / Caisse Assiniboine (ACU)'s commitment to rural and agricultural communities, francophone services, values-based banking, and ACU's triple bottom line accountability to people, planet, and prosperity.

Key Accountabilities
  • Coordinate the end-to-end recruitment process—from job requisition to onboarding support—including scheduling interviews and maintaining timely, accurate data in the applicant tracking system (ATS).

  • Post job openings across internal and external platforms, with a focus on bilingual and diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) recruitment channels.

  • Support recruitment activities, including career fairs, community events, and virtual hiring campaigns.

  • Assist in sourcing candidates, especially for hard-to-fill or rural roles.

  • Coordinate background checks, reference checks, and employment verifications.

  • Lead all administrative tasks associated with employee movement, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.

  • Promote the credit union's employer brand across multiple channels, including social media and community outreach.

  • Maintain recruitment metrics and generate reports for analysis.

  • Ensure compliance with all internal hiring policies and applicable legislation.

  • Support French-language recruitment initiatives in designated regions.

  • Foster positive relationships with external partners, such as schools, community organizations, and recruitment agencies.

  • Maintain professional confidentiality and privacy at all times.

  • Stay current on employment law, HR best practices, business trends, and changes within the financial services industry.

  • Ensure compliance and effective risk management through the execution of internal policies and procedures, maintaining ongoing adherence to regulatory and legislative requirements.

  • Implement Talent Acquisition programs, policies, and processes in alignment with ACU's commitment to rural and agricultural communities, francophone services, values-based banking, respectful workplaces, and DEI.

Qualifications

Education and Experience

The required competencies for this position are typically acquired through post-secondary education in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field, along with two years of experience in HR or recruitment. An equivalent combination of education and experience will also be considered. A Chartered Professionals in Human Resources (CPHR) designation and experience in the financial sector are considered assets.

Key Occupational Skills
  • Bilingualism (English and French) preferred, especially for regions with language requirements

  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and recruitment/HRIS software

  • Knowledge of UKG HRIS systems is required
  • Demonstrated commitment to DEI in hiring practices

  • Knowledge of employment legislation is an asset

  • Strong interpersonal, verbal, and presentation skills, with the ability to engage authentically, establish trust, build long-term relationships, and influence stakeholders at all levels

  • Experience in fast-paced, complex environments, with the ability to manage multiple shifting priorities while remaining results-oriented

  • Ability to independently plan and manage projects, lead teams to successful outcomes, and effectively communicate with all stakeholders
