Position Overview:
Lambert Nemec Group, Manitoba's Premier Specialized Recruitment Firm, has been engaged by our client who is currently seeking a talented and experienced Product Designer (Mechanical) to join their growing team. This role offers the opportunity to work closely with a seasoned group of engineers and draftspeople, contributing to the design and optimization of complex industrial equipment used primarily in the agriculture related industry. The successful candidate will be someone who brings technical depth, confidence to challenge the status quo, and the ability to provide meaningful design input that pushes innovation forward.

Responsibilities:

The responsibilities of the Product Designer (Mechanical) will include:

• Designing mechanical components and systems using 3D CAD software, from concept through to production-ready drawings.
• Creating detailed technical documentation including Bills of Materials (BOMs), drawings, and specifications.
• Collaborating with internal departments such as engineering, production, and sales to ensure designs meet functional, quality, and cost objectives.
• Identifying opportunities to improve product performance, manufacturability, and cost-efficiency through iterative design and analysis.
• Providing technical support to internal teams and offering design input when resolving production or field-related challenges.
• Supporting drafting personnel with guidance and technical expertise as needed.
• Participating in continuous improvement initiatives and contributing to innovation efforts within the design function.
• Complying with company safety protocols, quality standards, and internal procedures.

Requirements:

• Degree or diploma in Mechanical Engineering or Mechanical Design Technology; professional engineering designation (P.Eng).
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in mechanical design, preferably in an industrial or equipment manufacturing environment.
• Proficiency in 3D CAD software (Autodesk Inventor preferred).
• Strong understanding of mechanical systems, materials, and fabrication methods.
• Excellent collaboration skills, with the ability to communicate ideas clearly and provide constructive input within a team setting.
• Demonstrated initiative and critical thinking to challenge existing practices and contribute to design improvements.
• Ability to work independently, manage deadlines, and adapt in a fast-paced environment.
• Familiarity with the design of mechanical systems used in heavy industry, agriculture, or manufacturing is considered a strong asset.
• Ability to drive south of the city

Rewards:

• Base Salary: $60,000 – $90,000 depending on experience
