Your role at GEI. Are you a motivated and detail-oriented Electrical EIT ready to build your expertise in infrastructure design? GEI Consultants, Canada, is seeking an Electrical Engineer-in-Training to support our growing portfolio of water and wastewater projects across Canada. This is an exciting opportunity to work alongside senior engineers, gain hands-on experience, and contribute to meaningful infrastructure that supports communities—while enjoying a flexible and collaborative work environment. Essential Responsibilities & Duties
  • Support the design of electrical systems for water and wastewater treatment plants, pump stations, and municipal infrastructure.
  • Assist in performing condition assessments, arc flash and coordination studies, and system evaluations.
  • Prepare technical drawings, specifications, and reports under the guidance of senior engineers.
  • Participate in site visits and fieldwork including inspections, commissioning support, and troubleshooting.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary project teams and external stakeholders to help ensure timely and high-quality project delivery.
  • Learn and apply Canadian Electrical Code (CEC), Ontario Electrical Safety Code (OESC), and other relevant standards.
  • Contribute to technical excellence through continuous learning and attention to detail.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • Registered or eligible for registration as an Engineer-in-Training (EIT) in a Canadian province.
  • 2 - 5 years of experience in electrical engineering, ideally with exposure to municipal infrastructure or building systems.
  • Familiarity with electrical design software, AutoCAD, and/or Revit.
  • Eagerness to learn and participate in field and office-based engineering tasks.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Physical and environmental requirements for this position are available upon request.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Interest or exposure to SCADA systems, instrumentation, and automation.
  • Knowledge of arc flash analysis, power system studies, or lighting and grounding design.
  • Experience or co-op placements in water/wastewater, energy, or transportation sectors
