General Manager – Private Club

Our Vancouver based private club is recognized for delivering an exceptional member experience through its diverse programming, hospitality offerings, and community atmosphere. With a long-standing history and significant capital assets, the club is known for its commitment to excellence, member engagement, and strong governance.
The General Manager is the senior executive leader responsible for the overall strategic direction, daily operations, and cultural leadership of the Club. Reporting directly to the Board of Directors, the GM is accountable for executing on strategic initiatives, delivering financial performance, overseeing hospitality and event services, managing facilities, and ensuring an outstanding member and guest experience.
The ideal candidate is a member-centric leader with a track record of operational excellence, financial acumen, and the ability to foster a collaborative, service-oriented culture.
Some of what you will do in this role includes:
  • Oversee all club operations including dining, events, facilities, and administrative functions via a highly functioning executive team.
  • Support a vibrant and engaged member community, including volunteer-led initiatives.
  • Develop and implement strategic and operational plans aligned with club goals and budgets.
  • Provide support to the Board in assessing capital needs and long-term planning for asset reinvestment.
  • Lead a team of department heads and staff with a focus on coaching, accountability, and professional development.
  • Foster a positive, inclusive culture that attracts and retains high-quality talent.
  • Champion continuous improvement initiatives to elevate systems, processes, and service delivery.
  • Represent the club with external stakeholders, including local government and regulatory bodies.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships within the broader community.
  • Lead the financial management of the club, including budgeting, reporting, and cash flow oversight.
  • Implement cost control strategies and performance metrics to support financial discipline.
  • Ensure transparency and accuracy in all financial communications with the Board.
  • Increase membership.
  • Deliver a high-quality member experience across all service areas.
  • Oversee planning and execution of events, seasonal activities, and other member engagement programs.
  • Collaborate on initiatives to support member retention and new member growth.
  • Oversee maintenance and capital planning for the club's facilities and assets.
  • Ensure all operations meet regulatory compliance and safety standards.
  • Lead long-term planning for infrastructure investment and improvement.
  • Act as the primary liaison to the Board of Directors.
  • Provide timely, transparent reporting and strategic advice.
  • Support effective governance, including annual board transitions and strategic alignment.
You should have the following in your background to apply:
  • 10+ years of senior leadership experience in a private club, resort, hotel, or similar hospitality or service-driven organization.
  • Proven track record of leading multi-service operations with competing priorities.
  • Strong experience in financial management, capital planning, and reporting.
  • Demonstrated success in team leadership, culture building, and stakeholder engagement.
  • Experience working with a Board of Directors in a not-for-profit or governance-led setting.
  • Post-secondary education in business, hospitality, or a related field preferred.
  • You have the savvy and insight to move smoothly between members being owners, and owners being customers as you ensure the smooth operation of the club.
