Our client is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Dispatch Manager to join their team. This role is responsible for supervising dispatch staff, managing scheduling, recruiting and training team members. The position also involves active coordination with drivers, vendors, and customers to maintain high service quality and safety standards. The ideal candidate will bring a strong background in dispatch operations and people management, a deep familiarity with the city of Edmonton, and the ability to solve problems under pressure. A commitment to delivering a world-class customer experience while upholding safety and compliance is essential.
Your success will be defined by your ability to:
- Manage daily operations of the dispatch team, including:
o Staff scheduling to meet operational goals within budget
o Attendance and performance management
o KPI tracking, reporting, and continuous improvement - Ensure compliance with municipal, provincial, and company regulations and policies
- Champion safety and customer experience across all operations
- Handle customer complaints and compliments with professionalism
- Develop and implement policies, procedures, and training programs
- Oversee dispatch systems and verify driver routing activities
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, drivers, and staff
- Manage offshore call center performance and alignment with service standards
- Maintain and grow key account relationships
- Oversee dispatch-related software and hardware, identifying optimization opportunities
- Perform other duties as required
- 5+ years of dispatch experience, preferably in transportation (or equivalent experience)
- 5+ years of operations experience including scheduling, service coordination, and customer communication
- Post-secondary education in business administration or equivalent experience preferred
- Strong understanding of transportation regulations and safety standards
- Experience in recruiting and team development
- Ability to prioritize, make decisions, and manage multiple tasks under pressure
- Strong leadership, coaching, and team-building skills
- Excellent communication and conflict resolution abilities
- Proven business judgment and goal-setting capabilities
