Salary: Range starting at $67,000 per year, commensurate with experience

Position Type: Salaried Contract, Full-Time (Maternity Leave Coverage)
Hours of Work: Variable - Monday through Sunday, days, evenings and holidays, as needed
Location:Orono, Ontario
Reporting to:Indoor Operations Manager
Contract Duration: August/September 2025 to November 2026

The Marketing and Communications Manager is responsible for developing and executing strategic marketing and communication plans to elevate brand awareness, support organizational goals, and engage stakeholders. This role oversees internal and external communications, manages brand consistency, and ensures alignment across all Brimacombes touchpoints.

As a departmental leader and a member of our Management Team, you will play a key role in defining the culture of our organization and developing positive guest experience.

Key Responsibilities:

Marketing Strategy & Execution

  • Develop and implement integrated marketing strategies that align with business objectives.
  • Plan and manage marketing campaigns across digital, print, social media, and traditional platforms.
  • Conduct market research to identify trends, target audiences, and growth opportunities.
  • Track and analyze campaign performance, providing insights and recommendations for improvement.
  • Oversee the development of promotional materials and brand assets.

Communications Management

  • Create and manage internal and external communication strategies.
  • Draft, edit, and distribute press releases, newsletters, reports, memos and messaging.
  • Serve as the point of contact for media inquiries and public relations efforts.
  • Ensure consistent messaging and tone of voice across all communications in line with brand standards.

Advertising, Digital Marketing & Content Creation

  • Oversee content creation for web, blog, email campaigns, and social media.
  • Create engaging content, including snow condition updates, event promotions, and behind-the-scenes stories.
  • Manage website content and ensure accurate and timely updates (e.g., hours, trail conditions, operational updates, rates)
  • Manage website updates, SEO strategies, and online reputation.
  • Monitor digital analytics and adjust tactics to improve engagement and reach.

Brand Management & Partnerships

  • Maintain and enforce brand guidelines to ensure consistency in visual identity and messaging.
  • Work with out-of-house design and content teams to produce cohesive marketing collateral.
  • Manage relationships with vendors, partners and associations.
  • Develop and maintain corporate, community and local accommodation discounts for Member Perks Program
  • Create and maintain partnerships with local and provincial levels of tourism, community partners, industry partners and organizations Ski Canada, CADS, Brimacombe Racing etc.
  • Fulfill and track community relations initiatives.

Event & Campaign Management

  • Plan and coordinate marketing events, product and service launches, and community engagement initiatives.
  • Attend community events/fairs, trade shows, conferences, and industry events as needed.
  • Create sponsorship and partnership opportunities for vendors.

Administration

  • Ensure accurate record-keeping and documentation.
  • Create and manage allocated budget, including invoicing.
  • Submit reports as needed to Indoor Operations Manager and General Manager.
  • Administering surveys and analyzing data to present to relevant department heads.

Team Collaboration & Leadership

  • Manage and mentor a team of marketing and event staff, as well as volunteers (as applicable).
  • Assist with the development of staff training materials and subsequent training sessions in conjunction with management team.
  • Collaborate with all department managers to support cross-functional projects.

Qualifications:

  • Degree or diploma in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Minimum 2 years of relevant experience in marketing or communications; not-for-profit or outdoor recreation experience is a strong asset.
  • Management or Supervisor experience considered an asset.
  • Ability to work independently and adapt in a fast-paced, seasonal environment.
  • Proficiency in social media platforms (Instagram, Facebook, YouTube, Google) and email marketing (MailChimp or similar).
  • Strong content creation and design skills with a proficiency in Canva, Adobe, or similar.
  • Website management skills (e.g., WordPress, SquareSpace) with basic HTML skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent project management and organizational skills.
  • Ability to think strategically and execute tactically in a fast-paced environment.

Bonus Skills (Preferred but Not Required):

  • Photography/videography or drone content creation.
  • Familiarity with ticketing or POS systems used in ski operations.
  • Knowledge of ski culture and snow sports industry trends.
