RAE Engineering and Inspection Ltd., is looking for a full-time NDE Assistant for our Red Deer office. As it is a one person office, the perfect candidate would also have office administration experience. Please see the partial job description below:

The NDE Assistant will help the NDE Technician/Inspector perform their tasks while learning inspection techniques. Involves manual labour such as buffing and grinding, cutting insulation, installing ports, carrying equipment. The NDE Assistant will learn how to draw isometric drawings, equipment calibrations, perform non-destructive tests, and evaluations for acceptance or rejection determinations according to written instructions and records results. The NDE Assistant is also responsible for organizing and reporting results of the non-destructive testing they performed as requested by the certified technician.

This position is for our Red Deer branch office and will also involve office administration which will include, but is not limited to, coordinating and communicating field and office activities, reception duties, supplies and stationery, health regulations and general troubleshooting, as well as participating in the monthly/weekly Inspection coordination meetings and safety meetings.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist with conducting tests to ensure quality or detect defects using ultrasonic, magnetic particle or liquid penetrant non-destructive testing methods, as well as in-situ metallography, LIBS analyses and in-situ hardness testing
  • Set up and calibrate non-destructive testing equipment
  • Assist with establishing techniques for proper examination of objects under inspection, ensuring strict adherence to safety regulations
  • Assist in application of testing criteria in accordance with applicable specifications or standards
  • Organize and report test results
  • Assist with performing specialized inspections
  • Actively participate in client programs
  • Actively participate in client safety initiatives
  • Learn NDE techniques under certified technicians to eventually become certified technicians
  • Drive company vehicles as

Qualifications:

  • Class 5 license
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel) and computerized management systems
  • The following qualifications are preferred for NDE Technicians (not required for Assistant):
    • CGSB UT Level 1 or 2
    • MPI/LPI Level 2
  • 3 - 5 years of active and proven field inspection experience (not essential forAssistant)
