About the Company:

This is your opportunity to join a reputable and growing heavy civil and demolition contractor with deep roots across Western Canada. Known for delivering complex demolition, remediation, and environmental projects, this organization is trusted by developers, municipalities, and engineering firms alike. With safety and sustainability at the core of their operations, they are committed to maintaining high standards while continuously investing in people, equipment, and innovation.

If you're a seasoned field leader with strong demolition knowledge and a passion for site operations, this is the kind of environment where you'll be empowered to lead, grow, and thrive.

About the Opportunity:

We are looking for a Demolition Superintendent to take full ownership of demolition projects on-site in Calgary and surrounding areas. You'll be responsible for leading the safe execution of all site activities, providing critical technical input, managing teams, and ensuring that each project is delivered on time, on budget, and in compliance with all safety and regulatory standards.

In this hands-on leadership role, you will be the bridge between field crews and the office, working closely with Project Managers, Foremen, Safety Coordinators, and executive leadership. This is an ideal opportunity for someone who is ready to take the next step in their career or bring their extensive field experience to a team that values skill, initiative, and integrity.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Lead site-level operations for multiple demolition and abatement projects, ensuring safe and efficient execution.
  • Provide clear direction, coaching, and mentorship to foremen, equipment operators, laborers, and subcontractors.
  • Review project scopes and work closely with the Project Manager to align field execution with cost, schedule, and quality expectations.
  • Advise on the most cost-effective and technically sound approaches to structural and selective demolition.
  • Visit job sites regularly to provide technical support, troubleshoot issues, and ensure proper sequencing of work.
  • Attend and lead start-up meetings, progress check-ins, and client walkthroughs.
  • Partner with the Safety Department to implement site-specific safety plans and ensure all field activities meet internal and regulatory safety requirements.
  • Support incident investigations and ensure timely and accurate reporting.
  • Maintain high standards of housekeeping, discipline, and professionalism on all job sites.
  • Act as the senior technical resource for demolition means, methods, and compliance with environmental regulations.
  • Mentor and support the development of junior Superintendents, Coordinators, and Project Managers.
  • Monitor equipment needs and assist with scheduling, procurement, and mobilization of demolition resources.
  • Administer site-level documentation including timesheets, safety forms, and progress logs.

What You Bring to the Table:

  • 7+ years of experience as a Superintendent, Foreman, or Project Manager in demolition or heavy construction.
  • Strong working knowledge of structural demolition, site logistics, remediation, and environmental best practices.
  • Solid understanding of Alberta OHS legislation and federal demolition/environmental regulations.
  • Experience working with union crews and understanding of collective agreements is an asset.
  • Proven ability to lead multidisciplinary field teams and subcontractors with confidence and clarity.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and conflict-resolution skills.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, Word); experience with Viewpoint software is a strong asset.
  • Ability to interpret drawings and technical specifications and adapt field methods as needed.
  • Valid driver's license and willingness to travel to job sites throughout the Calgary area.
  • Ability to work under pressure while maintaining a high standard of safety, performance, and professionalism.
  • Legally eligible to work in Canada (no sponsorship available).

Why Join the Team?

  • Competitive base salary between $120,000 and $150,000 depending on experience
  • Performance-based bonus opportunities
  • Full benefits package including health, dental, vision, and life insurance
  • Vehicle allowance or company truck
  • Paid vacation, holidays, and personal days
  • Strong safety culture and hands-on leadership team
  • Opportunities for advancement into senior leadership roles
  • Join a team that values expertise, accountability, and teamwork
