We are seeking an experienced Commercial Litigation Law Clerk with a minimum of 8+ years of relevant experience to join our team. The ideal candidate will be proactive, detail-oriented, and capable of working independently or collaboratively. Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to interact professionally with clients and colleagues are essential.
Key Responsibilities:
Draft pleadings and file court documents through the e-Civil filing portal
Prepare, revise, and proofread legal correspondence and court documents
Coordinate and schedule examinations for discovery, issue notices, and prepare client prep letters
Organize and review client documents; identify missing materials; prepare Affidavits of Documents
Order transcripts, draft undertaking charts, and assist in providing responses to undertakings
Prepare mediation briefs, pre-trial briefs, and assist with trial preparation, including summonses and joint books of documents
Skills & Qualifications:
Post-secondary diploma in Legal Assistant, Law Clerk, or Paralegal program
5+ years of commercial litigation experience in a law firm setting
Familiarity with the Rules of Civil Procedure and court processes
Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and ability to meet tight deadlines under pressure
Highly organized with exceptional time-management and multitasking skills
Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel), GhostPractice, ACL, Dropbox, Adobe, Docusign, Zoom, and Case Center
Legal research experience using CanLII and/or Westlaw is an asset
Strong typing skills (75-80 WPM) with excellent written and verbal communication
Self-starter with a proactive mindset, especially in time-sensitive situations
