Technical POD Lead - PIM & Catalog

Location: Remote (Canada)

About TOOLBX:

TOOLBX is a technology company dedicated to digitizing the building supplies industry. We provide a comprehensive software platform for manufacturers, distributors, and dealers, offering features such as e-commerce, quoting, invoicing, payments, and customer portals that integrate with existing ERP systems. Our mission is to streamline operations and enhance the digital capabilities of construction suppliers across North America.

The Opportunity:

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Technical POD Lead for our Product Information Management (PIM) and catalog team. This role is crucial for improving our internal operations and enhancing the dealer experience by ensuring a robust and scalable product data infrastructure. As a Technical POD Lead, you will work closely with our data engineering and PIM management teams, driving the technical vision and execution for our product catalog initiatives. The successful candidate will be an expert data wrangler, scaling TOOLBXs universal PIM into the millions and deploying thousands of dealer catalogs with ever increasing enrichment levels. Finally, this position will evolve to include direct people management responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Technical Leadership & Strategy:
    • Define and execute the technical roadmap for the PIM and Cataloging systems, aligning with overall product strategy.
    • Mirror existing catalog manager functionality within the PIM to ensure smoother transitions and workflows for the Catalog Ops team.
    • Implement dealer-specific subsets within the PIM to enable efficient SKU assignment, automatic data updates, and scalable catalog management.
    • Develop a dual-column editing interface for dealers to customize their catalogs while benefiting from automatic updates from the central PIM.
    • Lead the creation of mini PIM systems for distributors to centralize product data management and enable flexible dealer subsets.
    • Collaborate with Engineering Leaders and Product Leaders to prioritize and deliver on product initiatives.
    • Ensure the integration of catalog features and attributes are properly mirrored in the PIM.
  • Project Management & Execution:
    • Manage the day-to-day project details, scope, and requirements for PIM and Catalog initiatives.
    • Oversee the development and testing phases of new PIM enhancements, including mirroring catalog manager, dealer subsets, dual-column editing, and mini PIMs for distributors.
    • Facilitate the deployment and full rollout of PIM improvements, converting all dealers to the new subset system and monitoring performance.
    • Drive projects that facilitate transactions on the platform and increase engagement, such as the catalog manager and Google Shopping integrations.
    • Coordinate with the Catalog Ops team for product data preparation, transformation, and insertion into the PIM.
    • Address challenges related to catalog quality and work towards continuous improvement.
  • Team Leadership & Development (if applicable):
    • Potentially manage a team of product managers and engineers, providing guidance and support to achieve project goals.
    • Foster a collaborative environment between product, engineering, and catalog operations teams.
  • Cross-functional Collaboration:
    • Work closely with the Onboarding and Account Management teams to ensure new dealer catalogs are onboarded efficiently and existing dealers receive merchandising support.
    • Communicate updates and progress to stakeholders, including executive sponsors.
    • Collaborate Ecommerce Merchandising Manager, on catalog initiatives and data management.

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in a technical leadership role, preferably within a Product Information Management (PIM) or e-commerce catalog environment.
  • Strong understanding of data engineering principles and data management best practices.
  • Experience with complex data structures, product hierarchies, and taxonomy management.
  • Ability to define and execute technical roadmaps and manage project lifecycles.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills.
  • Experience with agile development methodologies.
  • Background in construction supplies or a related industry domain knowledge is a plus.
