What YOU'RE Responsible for:
- Direct supervision and safety of patrons; ensure compliance with governing bodies
- Ensure facility patrons are enjoying the pool amenities in a safe manner; address and correct unsafe or unruly behaviour; practice and encourage safe work behaviour and educate patrons
- Be an active leader who ensures health and safety standards are implemented and maintained
- Train lifeguard/instructors during shadow shifts and complete required paperwork
- Act as a lifeguard and program shift supervisor
- Recognize the signs of emergencies and take appropriate first aid actions with completion of required documentation
- Assist the Head Lifeguards with the maintenance and completion of lifeguard and instructor certifications
- Develop lesson plans, instruct swimming lessons to children and youth of all skill level, and provide required feedback
- Daily pool maintenance duties including water tests
- Ensure a clean, safe and enjoyable environment is maintained
- Ensure adherence to Legislative regulations, Safety Directives and procedures and all respectful workplace standards.
- Report unsafe conditions and near miss incidents promptly.
- Attend regular safety meetings and promote a positive attitude.
- Other duties as assigned
- Minimum of 1 year's previous experience as a lifeguard and swim instructor
- Courses and certifications required: Swim Instructor, National Lifeguard, & Intermediate First Aid.
- Swim Abilities Instructor, Lifesaving Instructor, 0xygen Administration, Aquatic Emergency Care, National Lifeguard Instructor, Pool Ops 1, Pool Ops 2, LSS Trainer certifications, & LSS Lifesaving First Aid Instructor certifications would be assets to those applying for this position.
- Experience with directing children and youth.
- Ability to meet the shift requirements; shifts will include hours between 4:45am and 10:00pm
- Must be available to work at least one weekend day per week
- Demonstrated lifeguarding and/or instructor abilities and skills
- Ability to resolve conflict and problem solve
- A clear Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector and a Child Services Intervention Check
- Ability to communicate effectively and work as part of a team
- Up to 29 hours per week
- A starting hourly wage of $21.00 - $26.20 that will be dependent on qualifications/certifications and experience
- Membership to the Beaumont Sport and Recreation Centre
