Job Description

The House of Commons' Digital Services and Real Property is currently looking to staff the Director, Digital Media Operations position.
The Director, Digital Media Operations plays a key leadership role in delivering and evolving the House of Commons' broadcasting and Audio Visual capabilities. This includes live and on-demand broadcasting of House proceedings, committee meetings, and public communications—ensuring service continuity, technical excellence, and an outstanding experience for Members of Parliament, House Administration, and the Canadian public.
You will lead multidisciplinary teams in a unionized environment. You will be responsible for the strategy, planning, and operational delivery of end-to-end AV Technology and broadcasting solutions. Your work will directly support transparency, accessibility, and the modernization of parliamentary democracy through innovative digital services.

Qualifications

Education :

  • Degree from a University OR an acceptable equivalent education, training, and experience.

Experience :

  • Experience leading the design, implementation, and operation of digital media or broadcasting services in a complex, high-visibility environment;
  • Significant experience managing large, cross-functional teams in live broadcast settings, with a focus on uptime, reliability, and service quality;
  • Demonstrated experience in managing vendor relationships, technical contracts, and public procurement processes;
  • Experience engaging senior stakeholders and providing strategic recommendations on the future of media services;
  • Experience managing budgets, assets, and human resources in a unionized environment;
  • Knowledge of broadcast production workflows, AV systems integration, video streaming technologies, and media archiving;
  • Familiarity with Canadian broadcasting accessibility requirements (e.g., captioning, language
  • services);
  • Knowledge of enterprise IT principles including architecture, security, and systems integration in a media-heavy environment;
  • Experience in utilizing their understanding of the unique needs of others, adjusting their communication style, and successfully inspiring action to accomplish objectives across the organization;
  • Demonstrated experience leading negotiations and navigating complex or sensitive conversations in a constructive and solution-oriented manner, while considering diverse perspectives to reach effective resolutions;
  • Proven ability to identify key priorities, align resources to meet objectives, and integrate budget planning with program goals and operational processes;
  • Experience in leading change initiatives, driving commitment to new ways of doing things, and aligning changes with transformational strategies;
  • Significant client-management and service experience;
  • Experience working with simultaneous interpretation and complex events.

Assets :

  • Significant knowledge of the House of Commons and Senate procedure and culture.
