This individual will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of payroll processing, ensuring timely and accurate compensation for our employees, and maintaining compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
We are currently seeking a Senior Accountant Manager to join our team in Mississauga. In this role, you will be responsible for monitoring the company's financial status, overseeing accounting transactions, and reviewing quarterly and annual budgets. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of the Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), experience in financial reporting, and a proactive approach to risk management. To succeed in this role, you must demonstrate attention to detail, analytical thinking, and the ability to lead financial operations effectively.
The role and responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
- Conduct quarterly and annual budget reviews across all departments
- Perform internal audits and support CRA external audit processes
- Handle a variety of accounting functions for multiple companies
- Ensure full compliance with all accounting standards and tax regulations
- Manage year-end processes, including financial analysis, journal adjustments, and trial balance reconciliation
- Verify the accuracy and integrity of financial statements
- Process corporate transactions, including resolutions, dividends, and share buybacks
- Lead financial planning and analysis efforts
- Liaise with external legal and accounting firms on day-to-day corporate and accounting issues
- Perform monthly bank reconciliations
- Prepare and file monthly HST/GST returns; reconcile with balance sheets
- Manage and record monthly accruals
- Prepare, update, and distribute annual T5018 slips
- Provide strategic support to the partners on corporate and tax planning; serve as backup for payroll, office manager, and human resources
- Document, review, and update accounting policies and procedures
- Maintain organized, accurate, and up-to-date filing systems
Qualifications:
- CPA or CMA preferred
- Work experience as a Controller or similar role
- Thorough knowledge of accounting principles, procedures, and legislation
- Hands-on experience with general ledger, accounts payable, and accounts receivable functions
- Experience with cash management and risk assessment
- Good knowledge of accounting software (Jonas and CMIC is an asset)
- Attention to detail
- Efficient in Microsoft Office
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
