We are currently seeking a contract-based maintenance technician for the Toronto area. Selected individuals will be contracted for specified dates provided in advance, with durations ranging from 3 weeks to 3 months. Location: Downtown Toronto near University Avenue & College StreetShift: Days OnlyPay: $22 - $24/hour
Duties:

1. Perform daily rounds and record readings for all equipment including but not limited to start-up and shutdown machinery as instructed, inspecting repairing and issues that may arise.
2. Inspect, operate, and maintain mechanical/electrical systems such as boilers, chillers, HVAC equipment, pumps, generators, UPS, and life safety systems to ensure safe and efficient operation.
3. Perform preventive/demand maintenance tasks including filter changes, belt inspection/replacement, and greasing of bearings.
4. Carry out repairs such as replacing faucets, clearing sinks/drains/sumps, and resetting breakers.
5. Address general building repairs like minor paint touch-ups and mechanical room clean-up.
6. Respond to tenant/client requests and emergencies, and report unusual events/unsafe conditions to the supervisor.
7. Supervise or assist contractors/external service providers as needed.
8. Keep the work environment clean.
9. Fulfill any other assigned duties.

Requirements:

1. Previous experience in facilities maintenance and operations.
2. Proven experience as maintenance technician
3. Mechanically inclined with hand tools, power tools and pneumatic tools and well as
4. Knowledge of general maintenance processes and methods.
5. Working knowledge of tools, common appliances, and devices.
6. Manual dexterity and problem-solving skills
7. High school diploma or equivalent; Certificate in HVAC, building maintenance technology or relevant field will be a plus.
8. Certified Maintenance and Reliability Professional (CMRP) is desired nut not mandatory.
9. Demonstrated capabilities re : accountability, judgement, decision-making, problem solving, etc.
10. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs when required
11. Excellent computer skills (i.e., Microsoft Office Excel, Word, Outlook);
12. Proven ability to effectively interact (verbal & written) with clients, tenants, management and team members is a must.
13. Excellent command of the English language both written and verbal
