Term of App't: August 18 - December 23, 2025 (up to a maximum of 30 hours per week, depending on course assignments)

Start date: August 18, 2025

Reporting to: Dean of Academic & Vocational Programs

Salary:

$47.83 – 56.75/hour depending on experience and qualifications as per the BCGEU Faculty Collective Agreement. Temporary employees receive an additional 2% in lieu of benefits on regular earnings, 6% vacation and 4.2% statutory holiday pay included with each pay day.

Description:

The successful candidate(s) will be responsible for delivering one or more of the following courses on the Dawson Creek campus:

ANTH 101: Cultural and Social Anthropology I

ANTH 203: Contemporary Canadian Native Peoples

SOCI 101: Introduction to Sociology I

SOCI 205: Deviant Behavior in Canadian Society

The University Arts and Sciences programming at Northern Lights College offers a wide variety of courses for students interested in working toward certificate or diploma completion at Northern Lights College or receiving transfer credit at other post-secondary institutions.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Master's degree in Anthropology or Sociology or a closely related discipline.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to positively contribute to the College environment are essential.
  • A supportive attitude to students and a strong commitment to student success.
  • Ability to function effectively as a team member through collaborative approaches to course pedagogy.

Preferred:

  • PhD in Anthropology or Sociology.
  • The Provincial Instructor Diploma Program (PIDP) or equivalent credential in adult education.
  • Experience teaching a culturally diverse student population, including Indigenous and international students, at an accredited post-secondary institution.
  • Experience with online instruction, utilizing learning management systems, curriculum development and course design.
  • Knowledge of current trends and issues in post-secondary education in British Columbia.
