Italian Centre Shop is currently recruiting a Full-Time Bakery Packager at our South Side location (5028 104 A St NW) in Edmonton, AB.

Duties and responsibilities

  • Prioritize providing exceptional customer service to deliver a positive customer experience thereby cultivating a positive reputation for the company and fostering customer loyalty.
  • Packing bread and pastries into boxes quickly.
  • Following a list to ensure that orders are properly picked.
  • Cleaning bakery equipment in a timely manner.
  • Ensuring a clean work area.
  • Following directions as given.
  • Representing ICS both in and out of the store.
  • Adheres to all food safety protocols, standard operating procedures, health and safety policies, and other programs and initiatives.
  • Other duties as required.

While we are willing to train the right candidate, most successful candidates possess the following:

  • High School Diploma or GED from an accredited school system or program is preferred
  • Minimum of two years of experience in a bakery environment.
  • Enrolled in or have completed at least the first year of the Baking Apprenticeship Program (preferred)

Skills and Abilities

  • Excellent listening and communication skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure while always maintaining a professional image.
  • Can work independently with little direct supervision.
  • Have a well-balanced concern for both tasks and people.

Working conditions

  • Required to work a variety of shifts, including early mornings, days, evenings weekends, and holidays.
  • Required at times to work with challenging customers and/or situations.
  • Exposed to hot, cold, and dusty environments.
  • Regular exposure to flour and other baking ingredients, including nuts.

Physical requirements

  • Ability to lift 50 lbs. consistently
  • Long periods of standing and walking
  • Frequent bending and twisting
  • Occasionally pushing and pulling of heavy carts around bakery
  • Occasionally work in coolers and freezers for short periods of time
