Mortimer Khoraych is seeking a full-time Manager, Workplace and Institutional Investigations with at least three years of managerial experience overseeing a team of investigators to join our growing practice. Labour and employment law experience is considered an asset.
As the Investigations Manager, you will be in a leadership role reporting directly to the Managing Principal. You will lead a team of investigators, while also conducting your own limited investigations. You will engage with interesting, important, and at times complex and critical files. You will work both autonomously and collaboratively with team members.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee and manage a team of 7-10 Investigators.
- Ensure adherence to ethical, legal, and organizational standards in all investigations.
- Provide leadership, guidance, and support to team members, fostering a collaborative, engaging and productive work environment.
- Coach, develop and train Investigators; oversee and assess performance.
- Develop and monitor KPIs for each investigator.
- Delegate tasks, set objectives, and ensure the effective delivery of high-quality investigations, reports and client service.
- Working with clients directly, manage and coordinate intake, triaging and assignment of new files.
- Conduct Investigations in a fair, thorough and trauma-informed manner, including.
- Conduct Culture Assessments
- Provide consulting services to clients regarding their internal investigations
- Participate in Firm meetings, training and other initiatives
- Engage in business development activities, such as speaking engagements and training
Qualifications:
- 3+ years of experience managing workplace and institutional investigators.
- Proven ability to inspire, motivate and coach investigators to support successful performance.
- Labour/employment law experience is considered a significant asset.
- Strong understanding of the Ontario Occupational Health and Safety Act, the Ontario Human Rights Code, the Canada Labour Code and Regulations, and the Canada Human Rights Act.
- Demonstrable case-management, fact-finding, and analytical/evidence assessment skills in the context of conducting workplace investigations.
- Strong grasp of rules of evidence and credibility assessments.

- Strong client management skills and impeccably service oriented.
- Excellent time and energy management skills, and ability to prioritize competing demands and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

- Professional, disciplined, motivated, a self-starter and accountable.
- Ability to work independently in a remote work environment.
- Ability to travel throughout Ontario and nationally at times.
- Bilingualism is considered an asset.
- A licensed Lawyer member of the Law Society of Ontario in good standing.
