Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Industrial Painter with expertise in spray-painting techniques and industrial coating applications. The ideal candidate will have strong working knowledge of chemicals, coatings, solvents, and safety standards involved in painting metal surfaces and complex fabricated components.
Key Responsibilities:
Prepare metal and other surfaces for painting by cleaning, sanding, and masking according to specifications.
Apply primers, sealers, & topcoat paints using airless, HVLP, or conventional spray guns and industrial painting equipment.
Interpret technical drawings, paint specifications, and material safety data sheets (MSDS).
Mix and thin paints and coatings to proper viscosity using knowledge of paint chemistry and manufacturer guidelines.
Ensure proper surface adhesion and finish quality by controlling film thickness, dry times, and cure processes.
Inspect painted surfaces for quality issues such as drips, uneven coverage, or contamination; perform touch-ups as required.
Operate and maintain spray booths, ventilation systems, and paint equipment in clean and safe condition.
Follow safety procedures when handling hazardous materials and using personal protective equipment (PPE), including respirators.
Record batch information, paint usage, and maintenance logs for traceability and compliance.
Collaborate with fabrication, welding, and quality assurance teams to meet production timelines and specifications.
Qualifications:
Minimum 2 years of experience as an industrial spray painter in a manufacturing or fabrication environment.
Solid understanding of paint formulations, surface preparation, and chemical handling.
Certification or training in industrial painting, coatings application, or related trades (e.g., NACE, SSPC) is an asset.
Ability to read blueprints, technical drawings, and paint codes.
Physically fit and able to work in confined spaces or on scaffolding, as required.
Strong attention to detail, with a commitment to quality and safety.
Working Conditions:
Exposure to fumes, dust, and solvents; must wear appropriate PPE.
Work may require standing for long periods, lifting up to 50 lbs, and working in hot or cold environments.
May be required to work shifts, overtime, or weekends depending on production demands.
Hours of work:
Mon - Thursday 7 am to 4:30
Friday 7 am to 3:30
44-hour work week Averaging arrangement
