POSITION SUMMARY

The Maintenance Technician is responsible for identifying what parts, equipment, tools and processes of the plants facilities are in need of additional work and necessary improvement, ensuring that operating equipment runs properly. This role will work in collaboration with Operations staff to ensure that the plant is safe and operates in peak condition while maintaining assets most profitably for the company.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Perform routine inspections of the buildings interior and exterior to identify repair and maintenance needs.
  • Carry out minor repairs such as patching walls, replacing ceiling tiles, fixing doors, or repairing fixtures.
  • Maintain lighting systems by replacing bulbs, ballasts, and ensuring adequate illumination throughout the facility.
  • Monitor and maintain heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems; report issues to specialized technicians when needed.
  • Perform preventative maintenance on equipment, tools, and building systems according to schedules.
  • Respond promptly to maintenance requests and troubleshoot issues to minimize downtime.
  • Coordinate with external contractors or service providers for specialized repairs or inspections.
  • Follow safety standards and maintain records of maintenance activities, supplies, and equipment.
  • Ensure equipment is operating at peak performance in order to efficiently execute the daily production plan.
  • Work on and maintain manufacturing equipment in a wood working environment (Homag, Holzer etc.)
  • Maintain and/or improve system performance to design specifications
  • Perform routine maintenance and inspections on equipment within priorities and on time
  • Troubleshoot system issues and take corrective actions independently, while minimizing production downtime. Highlight system issues for permanent corrective actions and process improvements.
  • Requisition repair materials, machine components and parts and help maintain and organize spare parts inventory
  • Troubleshoot and repair machines
  • Able to read and understand electrical drawings
  • Schedule repairs with Operations to keep overtime and downtime to a minimum
  • Take personal ownership and ensure equipment produces a quality product
  • Work with manager to develop and implement maintenance schedules for plant and equipment and ensure both are kept in proper condition through regular inspections
  • Ensure critical inventories are maintained in order to maximize utilization and reduce emergency down time.
  • Respond to maintenance requests and work orders promptly to resolve facility-related issues.
  • Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • 3 + years experience in the woodworking industry, or similar manufacturing environment
  • Attention to detail is critical

  • Knowledge of Workplace Safety Procedures

WORK CONDITIONS

  • Full-time Hours: 7:00 am to 3:45 pm Monday-Friday.
  • Required to stand for extended periods of time.
  • Will be required to work in a production environment with loud noises.
