POSITION FUNCTION:
- The Classroom Assistant provides administrative and classroom support to staff and clients of Language Programs (LINC)
KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provides administrative and classroom support to staff and clients of Language Programs.
- Provides administrative support by helping prepare classroom materials, such as printing and cutting activity cards, filing as well as organizing classroom materials
- Assists in providing support to students with activities in small groups or one-to-one, correcting classroom assignments, guiding activities in class, offering encouragement to students for both in person and online classes.
- Provides learning support for clients with digital literacy and access challenges.
- Attends and takes an active role in department meetings.
- Undertakes other duties as assigned by the Manager or Instructors.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School Completion; some TESL training, or a combination of training and experience in an area related to the program, project, or service.
- Experience working with new immigrants, tutoring or teaching ESL, and/or comparable education or other program, project or focus specialties
- Experience working with learning technology online such as Zoom, MOODLE etc.
- Highly organized, tactful, versatile, and flexible with excellent communication skills
- Sensitive to and understanding of the needs of adult immigrant learners; attitudes and values in keeping with the goals and philosophies of MOSAIC.
- Knowledge of and experience with MS Office suite, publishing software, online learning technology
- English communication skills, other languages an asset
- Cultural sensitivity
- Able to work independently and with a team
- Current and satisfactory Criminal Record check required.
- CLB Bootcamp is considered an asset.
HOURS: Part-time positions (17.5 hours per week); and on-call positions
There are multiple fixed term positions until March 31, 2026
The successful candidates must be able to commute to the Vancouver, Burnaby, or Surrey Language Centers.
