The Universal Group, recognized as one of Canada's Best Managed companies in 2025,has an exciting opportunity for a Shipper to join our Manufacturing Operations team.As a Shipper you will be responsible for the accurate, timely, and safe handling of incoming and outgoing shipments. This role plays a critical part in maintaining inventory accuracy, preparing orders, and ensuring that all shipping and receiving processes align with company standards. The individual contributes directly to operational efficiency and customer satisfaction through effective warehouse organization and logistics execution.

What you will be responsible for:

Shipping & Receiving

  • Prepare and package outgoing shipments according to company and client specifications.
  • Receive incoming materials, inspect for damage or discrepancies, and accurately log them into the system.
  • Schedule pickups and deliveries with carriers; complete all associated shipping documentation.

Inventory Control

  • Perform regular inventory counts and reconcile discrepancies.
  • Label and store inventory in designated areas following warehouse layout guidelines.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment to minimize errors and hazards.

Equipment & Warehouse Operations

  • Operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and other warehouse equipment safely and efficiently.
  • Perform routine inspections on equipment and report any maintenance needs.
  • Assist with loading/unloading trucks and organizing deliveries for outgoing orders.

Documentation & Communication

  • Ensure all shipping documents are accurately completed and filed.
  • Communicate proactively with internal departments regarding shipment statuses or delays.
  • Collaborate with supervisors to improve shipping processes and reduce errors.

What we need from you:

  • Minimum of 12 years of experience in a warehouse, logistics, or shipping environment.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Forklift certification or willingness to obtain.
  • Experience using warehouse management systems or inventory tracking software is an asset.
  • Strong communication skills
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in inventory and shipping documentation.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Basic computer skills (Microsoft Excel, email, data entry).
  • Effective communication and teamwork skills.
  • Physically able to lift up to 50 lbs and work on your feet for extended periods.
  • Regularly required to stand, walk, bend, stoop, and climb ladders.
  • May operate forklifts, pallet jacks, or other equipment.


Where/When you will be working:

  • Warehouse environment with exposure to indoor/outdoor conditions and varying temperatures.
  • Work hours are Monday to Friday, 8:30 am to 5 pm, with some flexibility required during peak periods.

The recruitment process for this role typically lasts2 weeks and includes a phone screening, behavioral assessment, virtual interview, and a final In-person interview.
