Become BCCNM's Next Registrar/CEO
The British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM) is the largest health regulator in Western Canada and the first in Canada to regulate both nursing and midwifery. With more than 75,000 registrants across five professions—licensed practical nurses, nurse practitioners, registered nurses, registered psychiatric nurses, and midwives—BCCNM plays a vital role in ensuring that nurses and midwives provide safe, ethical, and competent care across the province.
BCCNM is seeking a visionary and strategic leader who also brings a deep understanding of operational excellence to serve as their next Registrar/CEO. This is a rare opportunity to lead a respected and progressive organization at a pivotal time in health care. As the regulatory landscape evolves, BCCNM is at the forefront—modernizing programs, addressing workforce challenges, and advancing equity and cultural safety, particularly for Indigenous Peoples and marginalized communities.
Why This Role Matters
BCCNM exists to promote unshakeable confidence in nursing and midwifery care. Guided by their regulatory philosophy, they regulate in ways that are proactive, just, right-touch, evidence-informed, and collaborative. BCCNM's strategic plan (2023–2027) outlines their commitment to transforming regulation to better serve the public, with a strong focus on dismantling Indigenous-specific racism in health care and creating culturally safe, inclusive systems.
As Registrar/CEO, the ideal candidate will:
• Lead BCCNM through a period of significant transformation, including legislative change and internal modernization.
• Balance long-term strategic vision with the practical realities of regulatory operations.
• Champion Indigenous-specific anti-racism as a core driver of regulatory change, embedding cultural safety and humility throughout the organization.
• Collaborate with government and health system partners to address critical issues such as health workforce shortages and systemic inequities.
• Represent BC's regulatory leadership on national and international stages.
• Inspire confidence and trust among registrants, partners, and the public.
Who BCCNM Is Looking For

health systems and/or professional regulation. This individual will be a relationship-builder, a systems thinker, and a steady hand in times of change— able to translate vision into action while ensuring operational excellence.
Guided by BCCNM's values—Nutsamaht (we are one), Caring, Leaderful, Collaborative, Strategic, and Humble—the new Registrar/CEO will lead with courage, compassion and a deep respect for Indigenous rights and ways of knowing.
