Brief Overview
The Project Superintendent will lead a team throughout the course of the Project. The Project Superintendent will interact with the project Team, Consultants and Owners, to ensure a progressive and safe working environment. The Project Superintendent is responsible for all field aspects of the Projects budget, schedule, safety, and Performance. The Project Superintendents role is to provide leadership and Mentoring to the Project staff. The Project Superintendent will report to the General Superintendent.
Responsibilities
Mentors, trains, manages team, and oversees responsibilities of the field team on the project. Lending expertise and support to the team at several adjoining phases of the project.
Implements schedules, coordination, effective cost control methods as they pertain to labour, equipment, and materials.
Liaise with owners, clients, union, and labour relations.
Maintains construction procedures on the project, safety work, job safety and analysis.
Lends expertise and support to several adjoining phases of the project.
Participate in pre-qualification process for approval for all recommended trades in the awarding of subcontracts.
Monitors trade contractors work to determine if construction schedules are being met.
Conducts site set up, temporary power planning, purchasing/ rentals of major equipment and assist in establishing a functional material coordination program for the site.
Coordinate with purchasing on the selection of the appropriate equipment for the site.
Assist in the development and execution of the project plan and schedule.
Pre-tender scheduling support and Trade Selection.
Provide input and ensure completeness of trade contracts.
Obtain contractors input into schedule and their commitment to meet milestone and over schedule "if necessary, before closing".
Conduct site trade meetings to monitor the Sub Trade commitment to the Overall Flow of the Project.
Follow up with project schedules, and determine if they are current, assist where needed.
Maintain liaison with Project Manager's to ensure work complies with contract drawings and specifications.
Meet the projects Contractual Obligations as they pertain to their Specific Areas.
Provide Leadership with the Site HSE Program as it pertains to the Joint Health and Safety Committee, the Worker Trade Committee, and general safety protocol on the Site.
Follow-up on major equipment usages, such as cranes, hoists, critical lifts, etc.
Give support, review, analyze and resolve field construction problems.
Accountable for the development of the field people on the project.
Troubleshooting, as they pertain to Safety, Schedule, Clients/Consultants, Construction Planning, Field personnel development.
Participate with the Overall Project Closeout, assisting with Pre-inspection Punch Lists and Project Close-Out Procedures
Provide guidance to the field team with knowledge of Local Regulatory Official, By-Laws, Trade Union Officials and Local Labour Laws that pertain to the project.
Assist Field Staff with the project contract and execution of the contract.
Assist with creative ideas to provide innovative solutions to the constructability of the project.
Assist the Field Staff to fully understand the specifications, methods, and procedures to carry out their activities on the project.
Monitor the productivity of the project, as it pertains to the Schedule and Cash Flow.
Qualifications
Required:
Post-secondary school degree or diploma in a construction related area of study.
Minimum eight (8) years of direct work experience working in high-rise / ICI construction.
Experience overseeing a construction project from start to finish.
Current and up to date on Health & Safety certifications.
Possess a valid driver's license.
A Safety Leader
Builds strong relationships with construction trades.
Thorough understanding of all construction techniques.
Effectiveness in the areas of construction safety and productivity.
Thorough knowledge of local, provincial, and federal workplace compliance regulations, and legislation in relation to the construction industry, specifically high-rise residential / ICI construction.
Thorough of OH&S regulations and related building codes.
Desired:
Experience working with Procore and Microsoft SharePoint
Understanding the High Standards of Quality Assurance
