THE POSITION:Reporting to the President, the Director of Marketing and Communications is a crucial member of the Executive Leadership Team, leading the organization's messaging and brand communication strategy, ensuring all forms of communication align with the company's values and objectives. You will be a key contributor in our pursuit of 9-figures in revenue through multiple streams. The right fit for our dynamic organization must be able to prioritize tasks, possess excellent communication skills, and work with a high degree of autonomy. This critical role is responsible for overseeing the development and execution of marketing and communications plans that effectively promote the company's products and overall brands to various markets and audiences.
HOW YOU WILL BE MAKING AN IMPACT:
  • Develop and implement comprehensive and cohesive marketing communications strategies that align with the company's objectives.
  • Lead the creation of marketing materials across all mediums, digital and traditional.
  • Oversee the company's brands, ensuring consistency in messaging across all platforms, materials, and departments.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including sales, engineering, product support, etc., throughout the life cycle of products.
  • Manage media relations, internal messaging, and public relations efforts to strengthen SMG's position in its local market.
  • Manage relationships with external agencies and vendors.
  • Manage the marketing communications budget, ensuring efficient allocation of resources.
  • Develop and report KPI's to the ELT to help support key decisions and investments.
  • Develop and implement policies, procedures, and systems to ensure integrity of company information and marketing assets.
  • Define and optimize online and offline marketing KPIs including conversion rate, CAC, CLV, ROAS.
  • Ensure cohesion throughout all marketing activities and messaging.
  • Manage and develop a growing marketing department of five team members.
  • Other related duties as assigned
WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE:
  • Cohesion and consistency of the Company's messaging through different channels and platforms.
  • On-time, error free execution of marketing materials.
  • Increased brand awareness and revenue directly tied to marketing efforts.
  • Consistent execution of effective, data-driven marketing strategies.
  • Collaborative integration of marketing with various cross-functional teams
WHAT SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE YOU REQUIRE:
  • Education: Degree or equivalent in Marketing, Communications, or Commerce
    • MBA would be considered an asset
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in a marketing management role.
  • Experience with developing and implementing an integrated marketing strategy.
  • Proven expertise in content marketing, demonstrating strong knowledge creating compelling narratives that engage audiences and drive brand loyalty.
  • Proficient in analytics tools to extract insights, measure KPIs, and drive data-informed decisions.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication.
  • Strong computer knowledge with solid experience in digital and traditional marketing mediums.
  • Works well under pressure and under tight timelines.
  • High level of organizational skills, detail-oriented, and analytical.
  • Energetic and personable with a diligent work ethic and able to work with and manage a team.
  • Able to travel within Canada, the USA, and abroad, as required
